Yeah no other country has weapons, or mass murderers.

I love telling Europeans that I own 25 guns, even when I don’t.

Their reaction is 99% of the time exactly the same. You have never met a more stereotypical lot.

There is no natural limit to the evils that governments do....that is why the second amendment was put there in the first place...

I wouldn’t want to be responsible for maintaining and securing that many firearms. Jay Leno can have all his cars for the same reason.

a terrifying number of mass shootings

When people think of mass shootings they think about a nut that shoots up a random school or a mall. The left stealthily redefined to mean any shooting with 4 people killed or injured. That pulled lots of inner city gang violence and drug deals gone wrong. And ta-da! The number suddenly goes from 'really really rare' to 'terrifyingly common' instantly.

I would love to read the article. But it appears to be in some sort of foreign language or jibberish.... and behind a paywall. But even that is in the same jibberish.

Hey, Le Figaro, let’s talk about how much “gun violence” took place in Europe between 1939 and 1945, shall we? That’s why Americans insist on being armed. Free people are armed. Victims of government-sponsored mass murder are not.

“More than a constitutional right, they represent an important fragment of the culture of a country which, year after year, suffers a terrifying number of mass shootings.”

Let’s see, things that terrify me....

Nope, guns and mass shooting are not on the list.

Here’s the Google translate version of the article. The rest is hidden behind a paywall.

“Joel, Lynne, Paige and Joshua (44, 43 and 11) live in Austin, Texas. The weapons you see in the photo are only 80% of their entire collection. GABRIELE GALIMBERTI
REPORT - More than a constitutional right, they represent an important fragment of the culture of a country which, year after year, suffers a terrifying number of mass shootings. Photographer Gabriele Galimberti set out to meet these gun enthusiasts.

“It was 2:04 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021 when a police patrol in Norfolk, Va. Received the call. “Multiple shots” at 900 Madison Avenue. When they arrived, the officers found no casualties - they were already in the hospital. Four children, wounded by bullets. A 6 year old girl, a 14 year old boy and two 16 year old teenagers. The vital prognosis of the first is engaged; the others, including one shot in the jaw, are miraculously out of danger.

READ ALSO French people who claim their right to have a firearm

The news item, for which a 15-year-old will be arrested later today, did not make headlines in the United States. One more drop of water in an ocean: In Norfolk, in July alone, a dozen children were killed. Across the United States, for the seventy-two hours of the “4th of July” weekend (the equivalent of our July 14) when this Norfolk shooting took place,”

My comment is, they are conflating our gun culture with the mass shootings, which are typically caused by the criminally insane. Nor do they consider the difference in gun laws between Texas and Virginia, nor the restrictive gun laws in major cities, where the shootings typically take place.

I’m sure others can point out other inconsistencies.

When the first European stepped ashore in the NEW WORLD with matchlock in hand and realized there were no Aristocrats, “Lards and Ladies” to grovel before, he declared himself to be a Free Man.
No more “Yes me Lard” or No me Lard.”

We today are in a great struggle to keep that Freedom!

Le Figaro was always the conservative paper in France. Of course, European conservatives typically don’t share American conservatives’ respect for individual rights.

I lived in 4 European countries. I LOVE mentioning to them that I own more than 70 guns. If they dare say anything eg mass shootings, murders, etc I offer to compare the total number of Americans who have died by violence in the last 110 years with the total number of Europeans who have died by violence in the last 110 years.

They then try to claim you can’t count that and I answer that you MUST compare that. Our guns are meant to keep the government in check. They’ve mostly worked. Yurps have been largely disarmed and have been slaughtered as a result.
