The FBI is investigating after a female U.S. service member reported she was assaulted by a group of male Afghan evacuees at Fort Bliss in New Mexico.
The woman, who was helping to support the evacuees brought from Afghanistan to the United States in the wake of the Taliban reclaiming the country, reported she was assaulted by a small group at the Doña Ana Complex on Sept. 19, according to Lt. Col. Allie M. Payne, the director of public affairs for Fort Bliss.
"We take the allegation seriously and appropriately referred the matter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation," Payne said in a statement. "The safety and well-being of our service members, as well as all of those on our installations, is paramount. We immediately provided appropriate care, counseling and support to the service member."
The base also said it is adding security measures, like increased lighting, safety patrols and enforcing a buddy system.

If that person actually had an Afghan neighbor they would have to be prepared to exercise their Second Amendment right. The threat potential exists.
I dislike the use of the term "assault". It can range from a threat of violence (thus why you have the legal term assault and battery) to a rape so violent that it nearly kills the victim. Tell what really happened.
Was stationed at Bliss twice. Every time I went to Dona Ana or White Sands I sometimes wondered about how many bodies might be ‘disappeared’ out there in the empty desert.
Is that where they would put a refugee camp?
The main post is in El Paso however, many of the training and firing ranges are actually in New Mexico.

John McCain’s parents were Americans. His father was stationed at a military base in Panama. Same as one of my grandsons, born on Okinawa, to my daughter and her USMC husband. That whole McCain thing was a red herring the Dems were trying to use to fight the Obama birther controversy during the 2008 election.
