NEW YORK — Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Thursday (US time) visited the headquarters of Pfizer in New York, during his trip to the US to attend the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, President Phu praised Pfizer’s positive role in COVID-19 prevention and control, especially with the successful development of its mRNA vaccine, acknowledged by the entire world as a highly effective ‘weapon’ to fight the pandemic.
He appreciated the total shipments of 2.8 million doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines to Viet Nam so far which has contributed to the country’s COVID-19 response, as well as its commitment to deliver the entirety of the deal of 31 million doses in the remaining months of the year.
He asked Pfizer to accelerate supplies to Viet Nam as soon as possible and work to ensure that the remainder of the deal will arrive in Việt Nam this year, and soon finalise a roadmap for the delivery of 20 million doses of Pfizer vaccines for children between 12-18 years old.
The Vietnamese leader also asked Pfizer to soon complete procedures so that Viet Nam could soon receive the unneeded doses from other countries’ orders with Pfizer, when bilateral agreements between Việt Nam and these countries have been reached such as in the case of Poland, which had agreed to transfer 3 million doses to Viet Nam.

Douwe, how did you end up in Vietnam?
Sorry I mis-spelled his name one time, when I was removing accent marks.
He is a nice guy, really! Good leader.
:)
Isn’t there plenty of J&J doses laying around that can be sent to Vietnam? Money and politics rules the day.
We already have a pResident Phuc-up ...
Pfizer, J&J, Astra-Zeneca, the Russians, heck even the Vietnamese themselves have been making noises.
So ... stop making noises.
SEND SOME.
Soon. Vietnam needs a hundred million more doses, we meed them. Right now.
Three months we have been locked down..
I want to go outside again.
You may think you want these mrna vaccines but you do not. It is already proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they do not stop infection nor transmission. They are good for virtue signaling though.
There has never been a useful vaccine for coronavirus, and not from lack of trying. You apply narrow pressure to a notorious mutator, such as coronavirus, and what you get is a driver of mutations.
You may think you want it, but you do not. Much better to concentrate on early treatments, and get natural immunity which does stop infection and transmission.
Is the whole country on lock down or just your area?
Agree that Vietnam is beautiful country.
I thought this was an article about Biden.
I mean, what the Phuc? While our woke and useless Let Wing fawns over this Communist country and Phuoc they have no clue about how Vietnam is still causing veterans pain, both external and internal.....
So, Mr Phouc can actually Phouc off and take Vietnam with him.
Rank secured carry on.
I am sorry for what you went through.
Sorry for all, that both sides went through.
It has been more than 50 years now. Vietnam has changed a lot, and America has changed a lot.
Never forget anyone, never forget anything. But we can maybe find things we can learn, to help everything in the future?
Sorry.
Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is shut down, has been now for three months. Two months of that is a hard shut-down.
Things seem to have getting better here this week, they may begin to start re-opening a bit at a time, perhaps in another week. Maybe.
But outside of Ho Chi Minh, there are tons of people without even one vaccination.
Vietnam needs vaccinations.
LOTS of them. Time for this to be fixed.
Many, many people here need vaccinations. Someone please.
LOL!
Pretty big jackpot for a 2nd World communist country to secure that many (1 for every 3). Who paid for it lol?
But no, what it says is, 'Vietnam's critical care services are worse than even the US' (lol), 'so we need these circuit breakers / experimental therapies and we're not particularly choosy about what those experiments do to our people' (Quelle surprise).
The funny/sad part is the 2 out of 3 that don't get the shot will be the ones taking care of the 1 out of the 3 that get it.
2.8 million is not much.
I think maybe he is thinking the number of doses may increase in the future, maybe even by quite a bit.
They can certainly improve on that, by a lot.
I wonder whether there is in any way, a lack of any feedback loop to anyone for some sort of ... well, ... reward? Does the lack of this,, in any way partly explain why Vietnam has so few vaccines yet?
Have heard absolutely ZERO to indicate anything like that. But the country is experiencing, just about the world’s worst vaccination program, so far.
Terrible.
Someone, somewhere, ... HELP !!
(Thanks!)
