PORTLAND, Maine — Maine topped 1,000 COVID-19 deaths as the Delta variant continues to fill the state’s hospital beds, and Gov. Janet Mills used the “grim and unwelcome milestone” to press Tuesday for residents to get vaccinated.
An additional 18 deaths recorded in the state since Saturday pushed the total to 1,002 since the pandemic began nearly 19 months ago, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Tuesday.
Behind the numbers are “parents, grandparents, siblings, children, loved ones and friends, all valued members of our Maine community,” Mills said.

Or maybe it’s because Maine’s got 50,000 people who are likely to be very deficient in Vitamin D, and Mississippi has a million of them.
At 67%, Maine is tied with a couple of other states for the second highest number of fully vaccinated people, just behind Vermont at 68%.
I think the prevailing theory is that if they’re vaxed and in the hospital with it, then it’s Delta.
That’s only slightly more “consensus” than the vax doesn’t work at all. :o
But Maine was the USA Leader in Vaccinations for the Fauci Flu, how did this happen...
1002 / 19 = ~52
So, the nearly 2 year bug got a handful of folks.
Panic Porn? . . not.
Okay, who’s got the oh-no-not-this-****-again meme...
And it could also mean the vaxx is the delta variant.
I’m confused.
When people go to the hospital due to covid, or is variants,do they feel they are at death’s door?
I mean I wouldn’t go to a hospital if I had a bad cold.
“Maine has 1000 COVID deaths and a state like Mississippi has 9300.”
Maybe Ole Miss also has lots of Fat Boys and Fat Gals with High BP , Diabetes and Asthma? Maybe the Great North Woods has a bit of a heartier soul?
Or is it just that the ChiCom WuHu is RAAAAYSSSSSSISSSSTTT?
Total deaths, including the the year the vaccinations were not widely available
But I know, you simply cannot not behave like a rational adult, rather then a total infantile clown, every time you post.
kinda strange with cellphone cameras everywhere in today’s world we never see pics or videos of kung flu patients overwhelming hospitals...
No, Maine is 60% vaccinated. Portland is 80% vaccinated where last night we beat back an indoor mask mandate with a tie vote on the city council. It will come back on every agenda as noted by our Corporation Council “like a bad penny” until it is voted down or tabled indefinitely (which kills it).
What makes this so difficult — besides the purported resurgence of the Fauci Flu — is that from 18 months of hard experience you just can’t believe, much less take at face value, just about anything anybody says, especially if they’re involved in any way, shape or form with medicine and public policy.
80% of Maine is vaccinated.
Which may explain why Maine has 1000 COVID deaths and a state like Mississippi has 9300.
Has nothing to do with it. 80% of the deaths were pre-vaccine.
Most are admitted due to respiratory distress.
Gov. Janet Mills must be up for re-election.
I doubt it. There would be more correlation between when people got injected and when they got sick.
I wish that the Worldometer charts had vax and other info in them (like Delta prevalence). Some have added these in posts.
It looks like the virus does what it’s going to do. It doesn’t give a damn about these vaxes or lockdowns. The only thing it’s doing is adjusting to a natural annular schedule.
I’m not real sure if there is a test for the Delta variant. I’m not even really sure if the PCR test can tell the difference between the flu and covid. I have read what the inventors of the PCR test have had to say about it and that’s what he said. I don’t believe anything the government says anymore.
