Urgent: the British are dropping vaccine passports

Keep hope alive.

The Sunday Times has just reported that Boris Johnson is giving up on the idea of vaccine passports or making businesses check vaccine status.

Again, this is not because Britain - where 80% of people over 16 are fully vaccinated - has controlled Covid. The opposite, in fact.

Other data show that only about 25% of deaths in Britain are among the unvaccinated - and that vaccinated people over 40 are actually MORE likely to get Covid than the unvaccinated.

The truth always wins. Now that one big country has made a long overdue concession to reality, will the rest follow?

Not if Uncle Joe can help it…

Fauci. And I quote, “Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!”

Okay, I’m being somewhat loose with the facts, but you know he’s thinking it.

That’s alright Fauci, you’ll always have fond memories of Sydney...

Good job, Boris! Pass it along to the jackboots in Australia and the wannabes putting theirs on here in the US.

I’m sure that’s exactly what he’s thinking.

This wasn’t an easy victory though. The Brits have been having regular protests followed by police brutality. Last week they were beating some young woman who didn’t show her vaccine card when she went into the mall, and another young woman intervened…they shoved her around, dragged her away, and six of them piled on top of the first young woman. People were filming them and later there was a protest where the cops were actually forced to retreat.

They had had another one earlier where they had tried to block off a subway entrance so that the protesters couldn’t come up from the metro— and there were so many people they just burst through the police line. Of course, the cops began beating them and threatening to gas them, but finally the cops had to back off because they were so outnumbered.

I think maybe somebody realized that this wasn’t working and that the vaccine passport had the real likelihood of resulting in a full-blown revolt. Also, a number of businesses were refusing to enforce it.

I hope we don’t have to do the same thing here.

In Miami, Florida, USA, per a fairly recent article:

“Of the 205 currently at Jackson’s COVID floor, 185 of them are unvaccinated. While 20 were vaccinated, 15 of them are immunocompromised.”

https://miami.cbslocal.com/2021/07/28/jackson-memorial-hospital-covid-icu-unvaccinated-patients/

Covid vaccinations work quite well.

If Covid is in the air you breath, you will “get it”, vaccinated or unvaccinated. A vaccine doesn’t function like a hazmat suit or plastic bag. The purpose of the vaccine program is to cut way down on hospitalizations and deaths.

Thank God In-N-Out Burger (indoor dining!) doesn't.

But they haven’t even strung anyone up yet, or dragged them through the streets!

I guess ol’ Boris-the-backstabber knew that was next.

We very well may, and if we do I sure hope the sane folks go
out and make it damned well clear, this “stuff” stops here.

Well that's their pivot position anyway.

This webpage of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development seems to say that The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 of the UK doesn’t justify an employer vaccine mandate IMO.

https://www.cipd.co.uk/knowledge/fundamentals/emp-law/health-safety/preparing-for-covid-19-vaccination#gref

The webpage also seems to say the Equality Act 2010 might legally support an anti-vaccination belief of an employee IMO.

They probably need to do this in Australia.

Probably not, because we have the highest-paid Federal government employee (Fauxi) who does not even know whether those of us who have had Covid have substantial immunity or not. We are being lead by morons.

“(1) It shall be the duty of every employer to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all his employees.

“(2) Without prejudice to the generality of an employer’s duty under the preceding subsection, the matters to which that duty extends include in particular—
....
(e)the provision and maintenance of a working environment for his employees that is, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe, without risks to health, and adequate as regards facilities and arrangements for their welfare at work.”

Here is a novel idea: you take whatever measures you deem necessary to protect yourself, and I will take whatever measures I deem necessary to protect myself. If you want to get vaccinated using Moderna, Pfizer, J&J, and Norovax (sp?), wear three N95 masks at 3 a.m. in the morning while camping on Mt. Everest, self-quarantine for 40 days and nights, whatever. But do not expect me to take care of you. That is moronic.

“The Equality Act 2010 says you must not be discriminated against because:
you are (or are not) of a particular religion
you hold (or do not hold) a particular philosophical belief
someone thinks you are of a particular religion or hold a particular belief (this is known as discrimination by perception)
you are connected to someone who has a religion or belief (this is known as discrimination by association)”

“The Equality Act says that a philosophical belief must be genuinely held and more than an opinion. It must be cogent, serious and apply to an important aspect of human life or behaviour
....
The Equality Act also says that a belief must also be worthy of respect in a democratic society and not affect other people’s fundamental rights.”

Just for winter, until they can tighten the screws further and release some stronger variants.
