I don’t feel bad for these people. There’s plenty of “Now Hiring” signs out there.

It’s called “getting a job”. The industrial parks near us are dying for people to apply. One place is offering $1,000.00 a week plus immediate benefits, and a $3,000.00 bonus if you stay 90 days.
That’s for “light industrial” work.

Excellent. The “calculated” unemployment numbers will drop off the table, and the stock markets will react by spiking upward.

Biden will probably use FEMA $$$ to extend the program - that’s how Trump got around Pelosi

“Devastating” is what the extra $300./week did to the supply chain/businesses and the deficit/national debt.

I am hiring. Can’t get none to apply. Maybe they will once this ends.

Get a damn job!
People sitting at home on their asses are half the reason the supply chain is in disarray and store shelves are bare. Nobody working in warehouses, loading trucks, emptying container ships, restocking shelves.
COVID is over. Get a freakin' job!
EVERYBODY is hiring! And they're paying good money!

The extra $300/week devastated all of the service industries.
Hotels and Restaurants have suffered long enough.
To: BusterDog
Some people are going to find out that their old employers restructured and automated in order to stay open with fewer people, and they won’t need as many workers.
People who wait too long to go back to work may see fewer “Help Wanted” signs.

My three years old daughter wanted ice cream tonight. Loaded her in the car and drove to Dairy Queen. Parked outside, walked up to the door and read the sign, “Dining room closed due to staffing shortage. Please use our drive through or curbside app.”

Yea people need to get back to work. Every business is short on workers. My babysitter has an agency and they can’t find sitters even at $18/hr. Restaurants here have maybe three people working (furiously). Friend works for a hotel and they had to pay $25/hr for a dish washer at the restaurant. That’s $50k a year plus benefits.
To: BusterDog
Even in states that have cut off benefits early, businesses still can’t find workers. Something else is going on
Typical clueless "journalism"...never says _what_ is going on because they have no clue.
I do not know the answer either, but it is pathetic to raise an important topic like that in an article and then just blow by it without trying to get real information.
