He and Jill Biden will shortly arrive at the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to attend the "dignified transfer" of 13 military personnel killed in a terror attack at Kabul airport.
This is a military ritual of receiving the remains of fallen troops killed in foreign combat.
The dead ranged in age from 20 to 31.
"The 13 service members that we lost were heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our highest American ideals and while saving the lives of others," President Biden said in a statement Saturday.
"Their bravery and selflessness has enabled more than 117,000 people at risk to reach safety thus far."
Eleven of the 13 Americans killed were Marines. One was a Navy sailor and one an Army soldier.

This infuriates me. Bloody Joe Biden, whose fault it is that these personnel were murdered because of him, can be real proud of himself. All the Democrats and the media can add mass murder to their resumes. After all, it worked so well when Obama and Hillary oversaw the murder of four Americans in Benghazi, with no repercussions whatever. He’s not good enough to receive these victims; he couldn’t possibly care less.
I can only imagine what he’ll say today, if allowed to speak.
Obama called Benghazi murdered “bumps in the road” I wonder if Biden feels the same of these fallen during his botched pull out.
