Retiring General Scott Miller is to blame for the bungled US exit from Afghanistan, a military expert who predicted the fall of the nation's capital months ago has claimed.
Bill Roggio, a senior fellow at think tank the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, slammed military leadership, telling DailyMail.com he tried to warn the Pentagon of the swift advance of the Taliban towards Kabul in the weeks before they took the city but was 'ignored'.
Roggio said President Joe Biden insisted on a reduced force of just 700 troops to both keep the US embassy in Kabul open and secure an airport to evacuate the rest of the 3,500 US soldiers, thousands of other Americans and Afghan allies.
As the US commander on the ground and facing the tight constraint, Miller chose Hamid Karzai International Airport in the middle of Kabul for the evacuation, telling US forces to abandon the nearby military airbase of Bagram outside the city.
Miller left Afghanistan in July and is due to retire from the military.
But his fateful decision came back to bite him when the Taliban swarmed into the capital within days, surrounding the airport and frustrating the evacuation of both Americans and allied Afghans, leaving many stranded and at risk of attack….

I thought the buck stopped with Joe Biden?
—
It does, but, as he said, its Trump’s fault. If it wasn’t for Trump and Miller everything would have been fine for Biden, it seems.
earlier it was reported as Milley saying we didn’t need Bagram
—
There is even a story that the whole plan (bagram, troop number, date, control etc) was cooked up in Qatar between the US and tallys at some meeting.
“So you had to collapse one or the other. “
—
So to make sure, they collapsed both - true geniuses ... or else that was just a cover story for a pre-made plan which we are seeing in action.
The chinese bought Biden and the lefties love him distracting from their takeover. They will steal the next election to keep destroying America

Thus, HB4 ...
So is the General the President?
Or is the President the president?
Who’s in charge of this clusterF??? Does anyone know??
Why oh why are we tolerating this nonsense???????????
The question I want to see asked at a presser:
“If you’re being instructed on what journalist to call on, who is instructing you on what is being done in Afghanistan? And since you brought it up, who is instructing you on what journalist to call on?”
Congress approves promotions if what Erik Prince said in an interview. The armed services committee specifically.
8. Pay, promotion, retirement, and other benefits and privileges of members of the Armed Forces, including overseas education of civilian and military dependents.

111th - 114th Congress was the obama years and dems had a majority for 111th - 113th which is how we got a pussified military. That and the chairman for the 114th was John McCain so ...
115th & 116th was under Trump with repubs in majority & Jim Inhofe as chairman
That would have been the time to fix it but Russia, Russia, Russia, RINO.
How does the Trump plan compare with the Biden plan? How were the tens of thousands of Afghan support personel going to be transpoeted the 40 miles to Bagram, how many would be needed to protect the likely convoys and maintain the ground transport? Why was it taking as much as 5 years to try to get permission if you were an Afghan translator? Were our Afghan helpers going to be shafted like our Kurdish cooperators? How many US soldiers were going to be needed to get all this done by a May 1 deadline? It would seem President Trump would have had to send many more military personnel into Afghanistan to accomplish all this 40 miles away at Bagram. How would the Taliban reacted to such an increase in troop strength before a May 1 deadline? A lot of questions here. Does anyone have factual answeers?
PS: Deepest sympathy for our 13 dead and more injured US soldiers, not to mention the 100 other dead and many injured yesterday. Will the Taliban be able to stop these ISIS terrorists afrom exporting their terror attacks using an Afghan home base? Will this end up being a temporary withdraw?
But how were they going to process all the paper work that some had been trying to get done for years, as many as 5 years, to allow our Afghan helpers to flee. They either needed plenty of people to work on this at the Embassy or they needed a lot of transport to enable these tens of thousands of people to travel the 40 miles to Bagram to do their paper work.
Was this before or after DJT was explaining how much of our military equipment he had brought out?
Resident Biden is 100% responsible for the debacle in Afghanistan, including abandoning Americans to be tortured and killed by the savage terrorists of the Taliban, and including leaving money, weapons, vehicles, supplies, and documents for the Taliban.
Our task, given to us at that time, our task was to protect the embassy,” Milley said.
Biden's bosses ordered Biden to order the US forces to protect the embassy but now the "embassy" moved to the airport.
Is this what you meant by “That would have been the time to fix it but Russia, Russia, Russia, RINO.” Read this and cringe or weap.

ahti-Trump much?
25 KM by air. And now they will have to move everyone and everything out of Kabul or leave them anyway. Biden was too lazy or unaware (or indifferent) to prepare.
I also hate Communism and despise that murderer Putin.
Exactly what I was thinking.
No, he doesn't.
This is a painfully obvious effort to judas goat the military, who ARE UNDER THE DIRECTAUTHORIZATIONOFTHECIC.
No. Not this time.
Xiden needs to swing in the wind on the loss of lives.
I don’t think Trump created the Syria mess. You want US soldiers to be in Syria? To do what?
Paperwork can be done elsewhere. They don’t need to be in Afghanistan. It was the interviews that were held up, mostly because Of Covid I’m assuming. But, the interviews need to be done in person I’m sure.
