Retiring General Scott Miller is to blame for the bungled US exit from Afghanistan, a military expert who predicted the fall of the nation's capital months ago has claimed.
Bill Roggio, a senior fellow at think tank the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, slammed military leadership, telling DailyMail.com he tried to warn the Pentagon of the swift advance of the Taliban towards Kabul in the weeks before they took the city but was 'ignored'.
Roggio said President Joe Biden insisted on a reduced force of just 700 troops to both keep the US embassy in Kabul open and secure an airport to evacuate the rest of the 3,500 US soldiers, thousands of other Americans and Afghan allies.
As the US commander on the ground and facing the tight constraint, Miller chose Hamid Karzai International Airport in the middle of Kabul for the evacuation, telling US forces to abandon the nearby military airbase of Bagram outside the city.
Miller left Afghanistan in July and is due to retire from the military.
But his fateful decision came back to bite him when the Taliban swarmed into the capital within days, surrounding the airport and frustrating the evacuation of both Americans and allied Afghans, leaving many stranded and at risk of attack….

I was taught to own up to my mistakes. I am tired of folks blaming folks, blacks blaming whites, men blaming women, women blaming men, women blaming women. Where are our backbones. Who will be the Statesman here and take on this debacle? We are a generation of folks blaming others. I have been fired for making the slightest error in judgment. And I’m just a nobody.
General Miller has a piece of the blame, but loyalty up only works with loyalty down.
They do seem to be removing around 20,000 people a day already for several days. How many do they need to move. Also, if we did not have the KIA airport, how would we have transported quantities of people out to Bagram? Helicopter pick up points would have had to be arranged, not places for planes that can carry hundreds at a time like KIA.
News this evening reports that these interviews are being done for the thousands now at various US military bases.
I think we ended up there while chasing ISIS out of Mozul and well beyond the Iraq territory. Kurds, not being a nation state are located in 4 or 5 countries, but they fought on our side like the Afghans who are trying to escape Taliban execution.
Any excuse to keep our military in Syria forever.
By the time the Biden gang started to notice what was really happening, trying to defend the Kabul airport had become a lot more difficult. I am not confident that Biden really writes his own speeches, but he was using a press conference to praise his pork barrel and voter fraud bill before the bombs went off. It took 13 US service deaths to even get his attention.
That's a plus.
But, he is also the officer who pushed the first women through to graduate from Ranger school.
That's a minus.
We are at zero.
Somebody needs to get Miller under oath to find what really happened here and who really made this sh!t sandwich. I'll bet a nickel it wasn't Miller.
Wow!
“Biden needs to be quizzed on this “....Is that a joke??? Biden can’t be quizzed on anything at the moment other than his favorite ice cream flavor! / s
It's someone's turn in a game called "Find the Scapegoat" or maybe "Deflect Blame from Biden".
“I said th’ BUCKS STOP wi’me. Annit does. Blame goes ta summon else!”
Scott Miller’s the scapegoat. Nothing to see here. He dood it all by his lonesome./s
Bullship, Miller (USA) is a scapegoat. Austin (USA), Milley (USA) and US Army COS all could have easily prevented this. The idea that with leadership comes responsibility must not be an Army thing because not one of the POS in charge (all Army team) is willing to be a man and accept their responsibility for this debacle. Hey Austin, you POS, Les Aspin honorably stepped down for far less than your f-up!
This whole article is a hit piece by a corrupt media hack who was probably paid off by the Biden administration. Tomorrow the truth will come out with the entire timeline showing Biden and his band of incompetents did this and the proof is in their actions, statements, and appearances which are all memorialized in documents and videos...Biden and the corrupt media are attempting to whitewash history and manipulate the narrative once again.
“Biden, Milley, the Secretary of Defense, and other top brass that pushed for this disastrous plan should all resign.”
Second that!
“Dereliction of Duty.”
Seems to me that also would apply to them (Milley/other Chiefs) sitting up there and not only just watching an uncontrolled INVASION coming across the Southern border but facilitating it with the use of military assets to fly elements of the invasion force across the country.
I think (not 100% certain) closure of a base requires the President’s ok. If true, it’s fair to say that Stoopid closed the base not this General.
Well, as President he is the commander in chief.
That does not mean he is not accountable for Treason.
