ALBANY — Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, who has been staying with one of his sisters in Westchester County in the final days of his third term, recently has asked staff members at the Executive Mansion if anyone would like to keep his dog, Captain, who has remained at the state-owned residence after the governor moved out last week.
Two State Police sources told the Times Union on Saturday that the governor had recently asked mansion staff members if anyone would be interested in caring for the dog. Captain — a high-strung mix of shepherd, Siberian and malamute — has nipped a few people since Cuomo adopted him in 2018, the sources said, and a mansion staffer recently took the dog home for a few days but decided he was too much.

Surprised to see the Jack Russell Terrier ranked so low. I’d heard over and over they were one of the smartest breeds. Another media myth, I guess.
RIP Eddie
I see that poodles are #2. I think standard poodles are amazingly beautiful. We don’t have dogs, but there are so many that would be nice to have.
My mother's next door neighbors had a small dog, very non-aggressive. She was laying on the patio between her 2 owners when a kid who lived down the street was walking their Siberian husky down the street. The husky leaped the chain link fence into the neighbors' yard and ripped that poor little dog to shreds. The vet was able to piece the dog together and miraculously, it lived. The husky was then rehomed to a farm, where it killed a bunch of chicks. They probably put it down at that point. I would never trust that kind of dog.
We have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi that comes in at # 11. Smart little fella.
Give him to me.
Decades ago, the dumbschiff renters in the condo across from us got a cute little cockerpoo puppy. The little guy would jump up on you and pee on your feet, he’d be so excited to see you. They soon moved out and left the puppy in a crate in the vacant unit. We happened to see the dog in the crate when one of their friends came back to get the crate...AND LEAVE THE DOG. I asked “what about the dog?”. The jerk-friend said “The landlord can take care of it.”. I asked if we could have it...guy says “Sure.”.
We had that dog for 15 years. One of our best friends...a little sweetheart. We talk about him to this day.
Years ago I worked for a real estate developer who had a few rent houses and I got a phone call from a neighbor who said there had been a terrible fight at the house and looked like the tenants had left. I went to investigate and every stick of furniture in the house was busted up and they had left behind their dog in all the chaos. He was dehydrated but otherwise ok. I called the police to document the damage and was trying to figure out what I could do for this dog when one of the policemen came to me and asked if he could have this beautiful German Shepherd. I of course agreed because he really took to the dog and vice-versa. I like to think they had a good life together too.
Sometimes, we just happen to be in the right spot at the right time.
Dead bottom of the list, Afghan hound.
Just sayin’...
Anybody know where he got the dog? We have adopted a few pets over the years from the local humane society, and they make you sign a contract to get the animal. That contract has always had a clause that said if at any time in the future you no longer want or can no longer keep the animal, you must return it to them.
I wonder if he got the dog from a local shelter and if so, could there be a similar contract?
Cuomo left over 15,000 people to die a horrible death so what is a dog to him?
At least Hitler had the common courtesy to poison his dog.
makes me sick when this happens the person usualy will say “I don know what happen there was no warning” when I hear this I assume one of two things. The guy does not even interact with the dog or he was physically abusing the dog. There are always warning signs before a series attack by a dog that somethings wrong. Normal for a dog is trying to please his pack and if the dog is truly a part of the family you will no immediately when something is off. years ago I picked up a dog from the pound and had him 6 weeks before he attacked my roommate. there was all sorts of warning signs that this was going to happen I just was to inexperience to realize that ege dog had been abused before I got it and was capable of attacking in the way it did
Ditto. Well done.
Mitt's his role model.
That is one ugly critter. (not the dog)
wiki:
His maternal grandparents were from Sicily (his grandfather from Messina)
Mafia bloodlines - it's in his genes.
Many with Mafia bloodlines AND GOOD INTELLECT, who are from the New York area, and got a good education, became professional people.
Cuomo also became a professional...
