President Joe Biden cut his trip to Camp David short and returned to the
White House Monday to deliver remarks on Afghanistan
He defended his decision to bring home U.S. troops despite the Taliban's rapid capture of Kabul
But he admitted that the rapid collapse unfolded much faster than anyone expected
'So what's happened? Afghanistan's political leaders gave up and fled the country,' he said
But critics said it was not the decision to leave, but the manner of the abrupt departure that caused chaos
Biden was originally supposed to stay at Camp David until Wednesday as part of an August vacation
The trip triggered criticism that the commander was out of sight as
Afghanistan crumbled into chaos
He returned to the presidential retreat immediately after delivering his speech
It was the first time the president had spoken publicly about the unfolding crisis in six days. He was forced to return from Camp David amid hostile headlines about his absence from Washington while Americans were being rescued from Kabul airport.
He admitted missteps during the past two decades and described the chaos at Kabul airport, where throngs of Afghans are desperately seeking escape, as 'gut wrenching.'
'I am president of the United States of America,' he said. 'And the buck stops with me.'
But only up to a point. He said the blame for such a rapid disintegration lay not with him, but his predecessor as president and Afghanistan's leaders.
'The truth is - this did unfold more quickly than we had anticipated,' he said, his eyes narrow.
'So what's happened? Afghanistan's political leaders gave up and fled the country.
'The Afghan military collapsed, sometimes without trying to fight.'

.......today’s debacle in Afghanistan and our Texas Border and a hundred other f’d up matters remind me of the fact that in the fifties, sixties, seventies and eighties and during the Trump years, I never was embarrassed about our federal government. NOW............it’s cringeworthy.

Dems and the MSM were screaming for the heads of Rumsfeld, Cheney, and Bush, as if they were personally responsible, because a few low level enlisted got carried away there (and truthfully, what were little more than fraternity hazing pranks). Now we have a true military, diplomatic, and humanitarian disaster unfolding, and the President, the Commander-in-Chief, is being given a pass. WTF? This cannot stand.

Don’t miss the part where he said, (paraphrased). “I MADE A CAMPAIGN PROMISE THAT I WOULD PULL OUR TROOPS OUT OF AFGHANISTAN, AND I AM MAKING GOOD ON THAT PROMISE”.
This was AFTER he said, he had two options, to accelerate troops in Afghanistan or honor Trumps negotiations with the Taliban.
With all this’s bad Weather in DC lately, I think all these trips to Camp David are risky.

The first place the buck needs to stop after Biden dodges it is the Pentagon in the joint Chiefs of staff. Every single one of the ‘Perfumed Princes of the Pentagon’ that had anything to do with Afghanistan should be put up for court-martial.
In 2024 we have to put these jerks on trial.
