We have a serious incompetence problem, not just in the military, as the Empire of Lies starts to collapse.
Apartment buildings fall down. Major transcon bridges are closed for structural issues. Oregon eliminates graduation requirements - FOR HIGH SCHOOL.
And in my field - don't even get me started on the CDC.
This is, seriously, how empires end. People need to stop the meaningless babble about the defects in the State - because the State won't be here in 2031, maybe much sooner.
Time to discuss what comes next.

Those poor people. They must be terrified, but I hope they are also angry, really, really angry at Biden and any of the other incompetents involved in this (Milley, Blinken, etc.). And I hope those who make it out and survive will demand accountability.

I remember a great book by an author named Bryher, set in England at the time of the collapse of the Roman Empire. It starts with the lead character noticing weeds and brambles growing in cracks between the stones of the Roman road.
Things stopped being used and stopped being repaired. It was not just symbolic of the collapse, but was part of it. The infrastructure had been abandoned.

Well we know what happen to those Blackwater guys on that bridge. Literally tore them apart.
Hopefully they haven't left yet. There's no airport even to land in. Kabul has fallen. The Taliban control everything with some of the best military hardware at their disposal. These Marines will be walking into a buzzsaw.
Not worth a single servicemember's life at this point. Too late for that.
Best now just to negotiate with (i.e. bribe) the Taliban to return the few American diplomats that were unable to get out in time.

Hundreds of embassy staff. My uncle did that kind of work, “embassy staff” means intelligence people.
Biden claimed 300,000 Afghan troops could easily handle 75,000 Taliban. Blinken claimed embassy staff was not leaving, but staying.
US intelligence has been a complete joke for quite some time.
What a mess. I tuned into RT and watched the chaos.
Judged against basic business Project Management procedures, this is a cluster blank. The withdrawal was announced in April. Key personnel should have been removed BEFORE the announcement with logistics in place to remove the rest. Critical documents, weapons, computers, etc accounted for. It’s as if the planners for this operation are kindergartners.
The entire chain of command must be FIRED and held to account. Including the IC personnel who estimated a 6-12 month horizon for the Taliban to move on Kabul.

US citizens being told airport is under fire and NOT to come to airport or embassy but to hide where they are.
The diplomats are safe, and the Ambassador fled just a couple of hours ago. You’ll be happy to know that he’s safely in another country now.
But there are thousands of American contractors and family members left behind, and I guess that’s just their tough luck.
At least the French Ambassador announced that he was staying until all French citizens had been evacuated.

Aside from the potential for Americans being killed and taken hostage..... This mess will put a large dent in worldwide awe and confidence in the US Military. And this will impact the US Dollar and its reserve currency status. Very serious stuff! That will increase inflation and USG borrowing costs.
