U.S. Embassy Staff in Kabul Told to Destroy Computers, Sensitive Documents: Memo In Preparation for Evacuation

Evoking scenes from the movie Argo, staff at the U.S. embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, have reportedly been directed to begin the process of destroying computers and sensitive documents in preparation to evacuate the outpost.

A memo obtained by National Public Radio outlines the steps American diplomats are taking:

The memo was written for staff at the embassy and shared with NPR on condition of anonymity.

Most will be evacuated by 3,000 U.S. troops on their way to Kabul to ensure a safe and orderly departure. The embassy will be evacuated and a very small consular staff will work in Kabul, the memo noted.

The embassy staffers were instructed to destroy sensitive documents and desktop computers before they leave, according to the document.

The memo comes after the Taliban's offensive toppled at least half of Afghanistan's provincial capitals in recent days and now stands just 30 miles outside Afghanistan's capital city.

First 3,000 U.S. troops en route to Kabul. Taliban now 30 miles from Afghan capital and could seize it as soon as tomorrow...or next month. U.S. military planning for full evacuation and closure of U.S. embassy, if necessary: U.S. officials— Lucas Tomlinson (@LucasFoxNews) August 13, 2021

The memo and the actions of staff at the Kabul embassy are a direct contradiction of what State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters Thursday.

The situation at the US Embassy in #Kabul is more dire than what the State Department is saying. Mail has stopped. Nearly all employees are packing up and a very small number will head to another location. Staff are gearing up to destroy sensitive papers, computers, phones.— Tom Bowman (@TBowmanNPR) August 13, 2021

The "overall status has not changed" at the embassy in Kabul, Price said, adding that what definitely appears to be an evacuation "is not an evacuation."

Why haven’t they already flown out with all that stuff? Put all the computer equipment and document boxes on a C-5 or something.

IMHO, for the same number of sorties needed to get them out, don’t triple the numbers by bringing more in. If it that easy to bring them in, then first get the 1400 out, or at least about 1300 of them. Then bring in as needed and evacuate out.

Been watching WWII movies lately. I’m picturing the Germans burning documents in ‘The Longest Day’, ‘Patton’, and ‘The Train’.

Ahhh, yes. Smells like 2014’s “Baghdad will soon fall to ISIS” drama.

This is why deserters are shot.

The media and Leftists will ALWAYS be on the side of mayhem, panic and death. That’s their team.

BEGIN THE PROCESS???

Taliban shocks the Biden Administration by doing exactly what everyone outside the Capital Beltway expected it to.

Can I ask a question…..

The US was attacked without provocation and we responded. We invaded their country and dropped bombs everywhere. But we also created an environment that should have allowed them to enter the 21st century and be acknowledged in the world stage for something other than violence, opium/heroin, and hashish, once those bombs stopped dropping.

We looked the other way while the country continued with their cultural norm of raping boys until those they could grow a beard.

We asked for interpreters and we paid them. We didn’t put a gun to their heads.

When I was there in 2002, the ‘terp we had lived in the DC area and owned an HVAC business. His family was able to get out in the 80s during all the stuff with the Russians and Taliban coming into power after.

The US taxpayer has spent close to $100,000,000,000 training, paying and equipping their forces. And that’s just then military. I have no idea how much the State Dept spent training and equipping their cops.

At what point are they taken off the teet and told to stand up for themselves?

Do we let all of them in? Are they all of a sudden, if they come to the US, going to start listening to Johnny Cash and swearing allegiance to the USA? For some insight into that, take a ride up to Deerborn, Mich and tell me what that place is all about. And then head to Minneapolis, a location the FBI identified as the number 1 location in America for terrorist recruitment.

Right now we’re going to have at least 5,000,000 illegals come into this country. That doesn’t include the babies that are about to be born or the family that will follow under reunification.

A long time ago, Bill Bratton had an initiative where the NYPD would basically take over a neighborhood, block by block. Get rid of all the drug dealers and bad elements. If the people of Kabul wanted that, I’d have no issues with coming up with something to accomplish that.

Outside of that, since around 2003, they’ve had their chance to change the direction of that country. Instead, its leaders have done nothing but steal as much as they can and move their smilies to Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar, or Europe.

The US is systematically being destroyed by the very same people, both Left and Right, that have caused what is happening in Afghanistan.

It is becoming clearer as I search the interweb that we actually have very few Americans at the embassy in Kabul. Most left back in April. This evac is of Afghanis. 1,200 left yesterday for Ft. Lee in VA.

I will never agree with sending American troops in harms way to aid in the immigration of Muslims. Make them stay and fix their hell hole. Make them stay and fight for their freedom. There are already too many Muslims in America. Send them to Afghanistan.

Also make sure the stacks of US Currency are stashed away in your personal belongings before your evac.

The current intelligence assessment is that the Taliban may take Afghanistan by September 11. Biden has been reduced to bribing the Taliban with foreign aid in exchange for a promise not to attack the United States embassy in Kabul. The proposal to fund terrorists is criminally treasonous and since the ranks of the Taliban include any number of Jihadis, and their old Al Qaeda allies have a presence in Afghanistan, that’s setting up our diplomats to be killed.

Obama had his Benghazi, Biden is trying to have his own Saigon in dusty old Kabul.

Wisdom from D. Greenfield.

My Marine buddy showed me a photo of him with a large number of bundles of US currency. He said his mission was to go hovel to hovel and hand them wads of cash. He estimated a couple of million dollars. This was supposed to jump start the Afghan economy. I asked if it worked. He said, “Nothing changed.”

Shall we brace ourselves to see dead Americans dragged through the streets again?

I believe the Taliban are more creative than that.

We actually did not, and still have not, bombed Saudi Arabia or Pakistan. If by "their country"you mean the 9/11 attackers, Afghanistan was the wrong target.
