Whole Foods CEO John Mackey on the ‘Siren Call’ of Socialism and Why Businesses Should Stay Apolitical
The Epoch Times ^ | August 3, 2021 | JAN JEKIELEK

“Socialism has been tried 41 times in the last 100 years … and there are exactly 41 failures,” says Whole Foods CEO John Mackey, author of “Conscious Capitalism.”

In this interview, filmed at the FreedomFest in South Dakota, I sat down with Whole Foods CEO John Mackey to discuss the deceiving allure of socialism, his philosophy of “conscious capitalism,” and why Nordic countries are actually not socialist, contrary to what many may claim.

“You forgot. Those, people who are living in their parent’s basement, which is filled with Participation Trophies, are infinitely smarter than those who lead the previous 41 attempts.”

BOL! Thanks for posting this reality. Years ago a grand son was on 3 championship little league teams coached by the same coaches. He like his dad and grand dad had the following genetic blessing.

All of us are right handed and right eyed. If you bat right handed with both eyes open, you can have an amazing high batting average.

So the city this grandson lived in, broke up the winning team, and he ended up with a sad sack bunch of losing non athletes.
At the end of a terrible season, he got a participation trophy. His sister told him that meant he was a loser on a loser team.

A week later, he removed his name from the trophy and sold it for $10 at a neighborhood garage sale on their cul de sac.

He kept and still has his 3 championship trophies.

I have tracked down the first instance of “Fake News”.
1893 with the Communists influencing Americans to support the Communist Party.
Just like now, Americans were attacked for not backing the poor and downtrodden.
Ernest Hemingway was their first success in flipping a celebrity.
They got him to back the Communists fighting Spain and then used him as propaganda to claim the Communists were actually “freedom fighters”

The Whole Paycheck stores in northern California have been stocked with liberal so called associates aka workers.

Many if not most of their customers are elite liberals.

They often have some good fresh seafood, lamb and beef at good prices. So, we use our Prime acct. and get free 2 hour delivery for a $35.00 purchased. That works great when my wife says, “I really don’t to cook dinner tonight!”

One of our sons and his wife often order home delivery from Whole Paycheck.

So we order without seeing anyone besides the delivery person. They don’t work for Whole Foods.

Should have been right handed and left eyed.

Something went wrong along the way whereby major corporations became mouth pieces for liberalism. How do they square liberalism with the businesses they are in?

Whole Foods is a great place. In Tampa they just opened a new store. It’s next to a REI store that I want to check out.

They often have some good fresh seafood,

FWIW
fresh seafood is kept UNDER the ice at 28deg. Over the ice and warmer, it is rotting giving the the odor you may smell - fresh seafood has no odor, other than a slight briny smell.

Else fresh seafood is flash frozen on the catcher-processor boat for species other than salmon, halibut, albacore, and black cod; those are bled on landing then heavily iced before off loading.

Farmed fish is a chemically fed and pharmaceuticalized nightmare.

And therein is the problem. Take something good—anything, from a person to a home—and mix it with others who have never had to work for anything, and both the good and the bad lose. But, that’s the Democrat mantra: Let’s make everyone equally miserable.

I like what he had to say in general. I especially liked what he said about CoVid and taking care of our bodies. There are risks in life every day. Go live your life. You can’t stay hidden forever, and doing so doesn’t help you. We will learn to live with this virus one way or another. Life goes on!

Can you give an example of conservatives shopping there? You don’t see droves of liberal hippies shopping there an also working there? What part of the country do you live in?

The leftists have the most money in the northeast, not conservatives.

What state is this and what would you say is the percentage of conservatives to liberals. I’ve never seen this phenominon in California or Florida where I live. It’s I’m guessing 98% liberal

Whole Foods is about eating well, regardless of income or politics.

And a $150 batch of groceries there costs $200 as most of their foods are organic and of the highest quality for a large chain.

And some people won’t use them because they see hippies there and want no commingling with the dirty bastards. I know my anxiety level soars when I’m there and am always in a hurry to get back to my truck.

But absent your own organic farm in a mythical perfect weather zone, you cannot replicate their fare.

At least here in CA which has 2.5 million acres certified organic.

Of course there are a bunch of people who assign no worth to agricultural products that are not exposed to chem fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and pharmaceuticals.

And a bunch more who have access to them because they and their neighbors produce them.

always went to small local organic markets and also bought bulk through local coops and CSAs too Had a family of 6 that I fed organically and at times vegan.

That is no longer important to me. but I do understand the need to want to be organic

So now you’re contradicting what you said that only conservatives shop at Whole Foods because liberals can’t afford it? You’re confusing and inconsistent in your message.
