Perhaps the most disappointing thing about this situation is how many conservatives were quick to jump on the story, accepting that the New York Times Magazine had quoted the founders accurately.

The fact that he would talk to any part of the NY Times in the first place indicates nothing good. And conservatives have been burned on a daily basis by supposed conservative politicians or corporations who promptly stab us in the back - we have a right to take people who make derogatory comments about us to the NY Times at face value.
