Not enough people. Trump correctly smelled a trap...they were trying to bait him.
I think Trump handled it as well as possible. He made his constant comments which showed his strong opinions. He offered help. Leftist cities burned nightly on the TV news, while idiot leftist mayors in Portland, Chicago elsewhere publicly declined his help. They looked like weak enablers.
America's crap media and corrupt establishment would have just loved to grab onto scenes of Federal troops attacking young blacks and fat lesbians to spin against Trump.
I think the leftists WANTED him to send in the National Guard. They wanted to use that as an excuse to BLM (burn, loot and murder) even more so as to escalate tensions and divide America to the breaking point.
Trump was right to sit back and watch incompetent local and state leaders allow their hellholes to burn.
