A new YouGov-BrightlineWatch poll that was released this month found that Americans are so divided among ideological lines that a solid majority of Republicans in the South want their states to secede from the Union.
The survey laid out a bunch of hypothetical scenarios in which the United States is carved out into smaller regional powers consisting of a handful of states:
(See groupings at link)
In order to accomplish this, states would have to secede from the Union and form geographical alliances. And while this desire was substantially more prevalent than in states located south of the Mason-Dixon Line – also known as the former Confederacy – a shocking percentage of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans from every proposed bloc of states said that they would support secession.
“Yet rather than support for secession diminishing over the past six months, as we expected, it rose in every region and among nearly every partisan group. The jump is most dramatic where support was already highest (and has the greatest historical precedent) — among Republicans in the South, where secession support leaped from 50% in January/February to 66% in June. Support among Republicans in the Mountain region increased as well, by 7 points, from 36% to 43%. Among Democrats in the West, a near-majority of 47% (up 6 points) supports a schism, as do 39% (up 5 points) in the Northeast. Support jumped 9 points among independents in the Heartland as well, reaching 43%. Even subordinate partisan groups appear to find secession more appealing now than they did last winter, …

I don’t think the states surrendered anything when they ratified the Constitution. In fact, the right to secede was explicit in many cases - and implied fir the rest.
The right to secede is the ultimate protection against tyranny.
We surrendered our rights the first time states chose to secede and were prohibited.

Not gonna happen. The Ruling Class will not abide the mouth of the Mississippi river and the military assets in the South to go south.
If it did happen, it would be like the India/Pakistan migration. No conservative would want to live in a hard left nation. Yuck.
“We surrendered our rights the first time states chose to secede and were prohibited.”
Yep, that’s my take as well. We “preserved the union” but lost the war, because we destroyed our own previous Republican form of government and substituted a top-down nation state in it’s place.
That man had to delete every single one of his social media accounts because of the many death threats he and his family received, and he went into hiding.
But I personally agree with doing just that. I'd even go a step further and see to the deportation of those liberal minded people to the states of California, Oregon and Washington, then fencing them all in.
Why would the authors have expected support to diminish when we have the most radical communist party in the history of the USA controlling all the seats of government and implementing the most radical communist programs ever seen in the USA.
Yep. The only true solution which would save this country is to purge all the urban cities along with the majority of educators. That would be the only way to start to get back to normal. Another whole conversation about our “entertainers and news people”.

2022 mid terms! 2024 General election!!
Are you nuts? Do you actually believe the Repubs are going to win?
Look at those gutless wonder now as the country we love is circling the turd bowl at ever increasing speed.
They inspire absolutely NO CONFEDENSE in their base, let alone the Independents.
That and more rampant voter fraud in ‘22 and ‘24 spells a Repub Wipeout.
Secession is the only way people in this country who want to be free, will ever achieve their freedom.
Texas Nationalist Movement. Lot of interesting information on their website, they are thinking through a lot of the problems and issues with secession. I would prefer to fix our country but with voter fraud we are being cheated out of even the chance of saving it. I would hate to see the U.S. break into pieces, but there may be no other choice to prevent full on communist/pervert takeover. It would be really complicated to do this though....
Yep.
And of course, slavery was evil and nobody is arguing that point.
But however noble the cause may be, the end doesn’t justify the means.
It’s the age old devil’s bargain: “How badly do you want [fill-in-the-blank]? Are you willing to trade your soul?”
I am in Ohio and I think secession or a peaceful divorce would be the best solution.
Let the blue Boston to DC belt plus blue city metros such as Chicago secede.
Red counties in blue states can secede from state and join new red country.
Like Czechoslovakia peacefully splitting, I think it can be done.
Yes, I trade my soul to SAVE America. LOL!
And when I arrive in Hell and meet the Devil, I know there is also a Heaven.
And I smile because I know that at least ONE human being is up there.
And if there is, then...
We WON!
“Trading away your soul” was a metaphor… try to keep up.
The question was; should a coalition of states have forced other states to comply to their will, even though doing so violated the terms of the Constitution?
Same here.
Let the liberal hell hole City-States band together to form their own country, and let all the rest of us sane people in EVERY state keep what is left of the real America.
Indiana would definitely be part of that map.
We have the greatest percentage of Republicans in our state house of any state in the Union.
No thanks. We'll hitch our wagon with the conservative plains and mountain states and form our own country.
We will never bridge the gap between leftist and conservatives. It is far too wide.
They are destroying our country. Flooding our nation with millions of the worlds poor. Overloading our infrastructure and social programs. Foisting higher taxes, insurance rates on the middle class.
It is time to move toward the Republic of Texas once again.
We might be able to get several Canadian provences to go with us. (Wait...did I say We?)
Iowa could probably be persuaded. Southern Illinois would be happy to part ways with Chicago, probably most of Indiana too. Western PA?
