A hotel maid is being hailed for her role in preventing what police fear could have been a “Las Vegas style shooting” at the upcoming MLB All-Star Game in Denver, a report said Saturday.
The housekeeper tipped off cops after she found more than a dozen weapons and 1,000 rounds of ammunition at a hotel near Coors Field Friday, according to ABC7 Denver.
The alarming discovery was made inside a room on the eight floor of the Maven Hotel, just two blocks from the mile-high ballpark that is hosting the “Midsummer Classic” Tuesday, the station said.
Cops removed 16 long guns, body armor, and ammo from the room, which had a balcony overlooking Denver’s downtown, the outlet reported.
Three men and a woman were arrested and charged with weapons possessions in connection with the cache. Three of the suspects were previous offenders, and three of them also were charged with intent to distribute drugs, the report said.

Troo nuff. Local sporting goods store just got in a full half-display case of .22 LR, six feet of shelf space, packaged in mock whipping cream containers, 200 rds per carton.

An earlier local report mentioned “weapons found in very suspicious placement within the room”.
I have no idea what that means or what to read into it. I know of no way the guns could be placed that would be evidence of an intent to shoot up the All Star game.

Perhaps the furniture had been used to set up a sniper rest at the window, with guns in position. Shooter shoots to break the window and is ready to shoot people.
It’s funny how people will use any excuse to ignore that which they don’t want to admit is possible.

Agreed. The hotel is more than a block from the stadium and only six or seven stories high. Although a shooter could certainly pick off people going to or from the All-Star game, this would not have been like Las Vegas where the gunner(s) had a high density, "captive audience" as a target. For mass casualties, the Union Station Hotel would have been a better choice. Regardless, we should all be happy that LEO took these guys down.

Why get a very expensive hotel room on the 8th floor and lug all the guns and ammo up there just to spend a couple of nights? And then get your butt caught anyway. And why the often see facebook remark about “going out in a big way”?
People are so determined to make up their own stories that make them feel best, it’s weird.
My guess is that they anticipated lots of small drug deals, plus some weapon sales. Conventions and major sports events attract lots of consumers. I’m surprised they didn’t have strings of hookers to exploit too.
