Tropical Storm Elsa has developed in the central tropical Atlantic Ocean, about 2500 miles east of the U.S. mainland. Interests in Florida should monitor updates to the forecast for this system, but it is too soon to determine what, if any, impacts could occur there next week given the uncertainty in the long-range forecast.Elsa is moving at a rapid clip, which may limit strengthening in the short term. Also, the potential interaction of the storm with the mountainous land masses of the Greater Antilles later in the forecast period could disrupt the circulation somewhat.

Tropical Tidbits by Levi Cowan
After a brief moment of elation last evening when Elsa's core collapsed, I fell into a fitful, restful sleep.
"...weather permitting, trash and yard waste pickup will resume Wed. July 7..." So, I took out the garbage yard waste collected this morning. The most widespread debris were big Royal Poinciana pods. They were in the road, driveway and yard. They make an awful crunch when run over. Otherwise, one palm frond and a few twigs. All is good.
Thanks!
LOL! I put some cat food in a plastic zip lock bag and put it by my front door in case I needed to leave here in a hurry with my cat if it got too bad. I fell asleep and when I awoke...the bag was dragged across the room and had a hole in it! The little sneak was licking her lips acting innocent. Keep in mind...she already has a dish she eats from but that was not enough. She even had the nerve to ask for Temptations when I woke up.
That'll teach you! I put the cat-go-food inside the cat carrier. It doesn't help getting the cat into the carrier, but the food is safe.
That is a great idea and I definitely will use it in the future.
Yes, after you observed/announced the collapse, I praised God for his continued mercy to this island (no direct hits since 1921) and went to bed. Woke about 330 to check things out. Strong breeze and less rain than our daily thunderstorms lately. Thanks again for another great thread.
And the roof held!
All good news! Excellent dress rehearsal for the upcoming tropical season peak. Thanks for your update.
Thanks for your local report. Please keep us updated when you are able.
