Donald Rumsfeld, the two-time defense secretary best known for serving in that position at the height of the Iraq War, has died. He was 88.

My friend was shot down in a helicopter over there. For nothing. His name was Kevin Houston.
But THIS crew ran their emails out of the RNC server-turned off the auto-archive and “lost” 21 MILLION emails -most related to the Iraq war and leading up to it.
Now ya know why nothing was ever done to Hillary. Kinda hard to go after 30K when the dems would go after 21 million. Lot of bodies buried in that pile.
I like that Louie CK asked him if he was a Lizard on Opie and Anthony. LOL.

Compared to most of the more recent occupants of the office, he was a giant who belonged on Mt Olympus. Among many mistakes, he was still a sincere person who mostly made the best of what he had. I served under him twice, way down in the ranks, of course, and will speak only good of him.
Didn’t Rummy say there was $1Trillion missing from the Department of Defense one day before 9-11? That got swept out to sea as soon as the attacks occurred. He knew more than he was letting on.
Good post, and I agree.
‘Pod.
Shhh. Don't you know it's more important to be "first to post" on FRacebook?! The damn links aren't important! First is important on FRacebook!
I am sorry for your loss.
Thank you for remembering him
And as I always remind folks here on FR, the United States haven’t won a war since 1945.
We're 10 and 1!
Absolutely no doubt. Thanks for your service brother.
And isn’t it interesting that War was the last Constitutionally Declared War.
We (America) just can’t learn.
I bet he never told anyone outside of his DC cabal of criminals where the Pentagon’s missing $2.2 went.
Did we mess up when we took out Saddam Hussein? Probably. Could we leave Saddam Hussein alone? Probably not.
People forgot that his heirs, Qusay and Uday Hussein were sadistic. I think Uday seizes power and kills his brother Qusay, when Saddam dies of "natural causes".
Let me tell you this. Kim Jong-Un is a girl scout compared to Uday Hussein.
But that is one problem the world does not have to deal with thanks to Dubya taking out Saddam and his sons.
$2.2 Trillion
Good riddance to this warmonger.
Somehow through my late brother I have two autographed copies of this book. Suppose I should read it but he left me 1200 other books to sort through. R.I.P. Rummy
I always thought the marginally more circumspect, productive and engaged Quesey (sp?) odds on favorite to come out on top in the post -Sadam shakeout.
I loved W at the time and always defended him any time anybody criticized him— but looking back, he was the beginning of the end.
“Ever since Rumsfeld introduced that statement to us, I have often thought about the truth and the immensity of it.”
“Unknowns” is easily one of the most profound statements ever introduced to me. Ranks beside Reagan’s view that Conservatism was simply Common Sense.
A younger friend of mine was a serving officer following Rumsfeld’s tenure. We had more than a few talks regards Rumsfeld and the well publicized adversarial attitudes of some subordinate commanders. He was critical of Rumsfeld, perhaps influenced by sea stories that may have proliferated at the time. My view was that commanders needed to take a deep inhale and remember who they worked for. Some of the “Some” were in critical need of having a knot jerked in their backside. It may have been forgotten that Rumsfeld had been a serving naval aviator. Not much smoke to be blown up his skirt.
End of the day, the USA should say to Donald Rumsfeld; “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
