I was in DeSantis’ district and voted for him at the very start. He was always good. Not very conflictive and not a high-profile personality, but very focused on doing his job. He’s not somebody who likes doing the campaign populist schtick.

I think Trump’s example of going for the jugular and pressing the flesh strengthened him or at least made him more aggressive and more personal.

DeSantis has been great here in Florida and has fought back against overreach from the Federal government (which, according to a recent Gallup poll, is mistrusted by and unpopular with 72% of Americans).

I think Trump is a little distanced from DeSantis because Trump thinks that any contact with himself would not be good for the candidate. I also think that DeSantis wants to be perceived as his own person.
