When Wency Suo heard Idaho’s lieutenant governor was creating a task force to look into “indoctrination” in schools, she had a mix of emotions: surprise, disappointment, and anger.
At the task force’s first meeting, Suo, a rising high school junior in Boise, noticed something right away — the absence of people of color on the task force.
She said she already distrusted the intentions behind the task force, and what she saw during the first meeting worried her even more. Caitlin Yang, a rising junior in Boise, said she was skeptical at first when she heard of the task force. When she saw the first meeting, it was clear “what they wanted and what they wanted to take away,” she told the Idaho Statesman. That, she said, included preventing students’ right to be “fully educated on issues about race and the history of race.” Suo and Yang — founders of the Idaho Asian American Pacific Islander Youth Alliance — are part of a group of students who have organized to speak up about the task force assembled by Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin to look into claims of indoctrination in Idaho schools. The task force met for the first time last month, and will hold its second meeting Thursday at 1 p.m. A live stream will also be available.
This group of students said they want public officials to listen to them — to let them talk about their experiences in the classroom and how they feel about claims of indoctrination.
But so far, several students said they have been largely left out of the conversation. And McGeachin’s office said in an email there is no public testimony scheduled for the second meeting.
Without their input, the students are scared about how their education might be impacted moving forward.

After more than half a century of life on earth I have befriended people from the far east but have yet to meet even one Pacific islander. Not even one. So you are probably right.
Common term since when?
The cream of the crap, she is.
The phrase that really got me was, “We want more education, not less.” Like these whiny, public school-”educated” children have any idea. More CRT and less Socrates? You got it!
There are more Americans alive today than ever before. Their numbers have been massively diluted by foreign and domestic America looters, on purpose by the Democrats. The stupid party has done nothing to fight it, and still doesn't see the permanent one-party-rule forming on the horizon.
How many of these “Americans” have American parents? Obama would have you believe anyone within our borders is “American”, but you should distinguish between “Americans” and “replacement Americans” (using whatever metrics you’d like).
So these girls are bigots.
They see a certain “type” of person, and they have been indoctrinated to believe the worst about them, then they want to control what “those” people can do..
Little Asian bigots.
The gullibility of students is amazing. They can be counted on to parrot their school’s faculty talking points every time.
I was on a forum not to long ago about Corporate recruiters who are admitting they are starting to throw the resumes of applicants away if they come from a certain university and certain degree and crap like this further more determined to do so.
Meant to say in the beginning that this is in colleges too.
“Rising junior” used 3 times?
Yeah, because the author didn’t want to describe her as a sophomore spouting sophomoric ideas?
You nailed it!
Plus the effrontery to show up here and tell the natives what to think, do and how to live.
Probably parroting mom & dad as well.
While the article may have all sort of red flags, that is actually a commonly used term in the sports recruiting world. When describing a student during the summer, the word "rising" is used so one knows what class a person is in.
So in an article about some offensive lineman, and he is called a "rising junior", the reader would know that he will be a junior when school starts this fall.
When Wency Suo.... What BS from her who I assume a POC. Person of color
This Wency Suo is not the only student at this high school. 85% on up of the students have parents who don’t want CRT indoctrination for their children. And if lots of student want CRT, tough luck! Their parents pay the taxes and what they say is what must be this school’s policy. Fire the schoolboard or vote these lefty maggots out!
TO REPEAT - The parent pay the taxes that fund these lefty teacher’s salaries. None have missed a paycheck during Covid! The parents are who fund the entire local school system, so shut the f up and teach honestly. Or find work at another school system
What you say is true, but this article is about three STATE level meetings led by the Lieutenant Governor. It is way above the local school board.
Many thanks.... I guess I will read the article. Reading the first paragraph set me off. That these entitled students, these woke nitwits think they get to set the agenda on CRT in Idaho.
If nobody is actually teaching it, why are they trying so hard to make sure they can continue teaching it?
The “nobody knows what is is” logic is so preposterous to be laughable.
If they don’t know what it is, how do they know they are teaching it?
Your point is excellent…why fight so hard to teach it if you don’t know what it is?
They all know perfectly well what it is. It’s been developed for well over 50 years. It is pure Marxism and class warfare.
The term rising is an attempt to solve the confusion about which grade a student is in when they are between grades.
For example, it's June, school is out for the summer. If you just graduated from Middle School (eighth grade) what grade are you in now? Answer, you are a rising ninth grader. A rising high school junior is a student between the 10th and 11th grades. You'll be a junior in the coming school year. Assuming the school isn't shutdown again.
