Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse last week refused to apologize for his family's membership in an all-White beach club in his home state of Rhode Island, calling beach clubs "a long tradition" and saying he hopes the club will admit minority members soon.
Whitehouse, D-R.I., was asked about his family's membership in Bailey's Beach Club, officially known as Spouting Rock Beach Association, by GoLocalProv in a video that was posted on Saturday. The interviewer cited comments Whitehouse made in 2017 that he hoped the highly-exclusive club would begin to allow minority members and asked Whitehouse's reaction to the fact it has not.
"I think the people who are running the place are still working on that and I'm sorry it hasn't happened yet," Whitehouse said.

Freedom of choice is limited to a very few things now days minorities or nothing.
Whitehouse is a lib and therefore incapable of error
The benefit of the beach club is to not have to get up at the break of dawn to get a parking spot at the beach on a summer weekend day.
You also have bathrooms/locker rooms including showers that are only for members use. There is typically also a pool if the ocean is too cold, stormy, riptide, etc. The ones I have been to also had grills to cook food that you bring.
They have a locker to store your beach stuff in too. Like surf boards, boogie boards, etc.
Whitehouse should schedule a press conference at his beach club, show up in blackface and denounce the media as lying scum.
It’s a private club. I would not want to join myself, but all sorts of people may want to form groups with their own kind. May be racist, but it should not be illegal. What is the Congressional Black Caucus? What about a Jewish club, or Christian club? What about an Asian club?
Have heard that before from political leftists, “working on it” means basically “not planning to fix that, but you keep bringing it up.”
