The constitution for some is a roadmap to hell. Of course Pence had an obligation to do stop the steal. The Pennsylvania delegation asked him to send it back to them. As I recall there were thousands of more ballots than voters.

You are correct, he didn't have to certify them, which is why he didn't.

"Certification" by the President of the Senate is not part of the process. The sitting VP, other than as the presiding officer over the Special Joint Session where the votes are exhibited and enumerated, has no role other than to rule on properly formed (signed by one Senator and one Member of Congress) objections, which ruling has always in the past consisted of referring them to the floor, which Pence did, where the objections were defeated (overwhelmingly).

It means you also believe Algore didn't have to certify the electoral votes in 2001 and Joe Biden didn't have to certify the electoral votes in 2017. That the Vice President has the ability to overturn any Presidential election on a whim is probably the dumbest view of any Constitutional provision I have ever read.
