PennDOT license, photo centers will be closed for Juneteenth

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced their drivers license and photo centers will be closed on June 18 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

The closure will include the Riverfront Office Center in Harrisburg, as well as the center in the Summerdale Plaza in Enola. A complete listing of PennDOT driver and photo license center closings is available online.

Customers may still access many driver and vehicle services and forms online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website. These services include driver’s license, photo ID and vehicle registration renewals, changes of address and driver exam scheduling, among others.

Juneteenth honors the date of June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers reached Galveston, Texas and the end of the Civil War. The soldiers freed the enslaved people there who had been kept in bondage two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, and two months after Confederate general Robert E. Lee had surrendered at Appomattox, Virginia.

Juneteenth was enshrined as a holiday in 2019 by the Pennsylvania legislature.

Almost as phoney-baloney a "holiday" as Kwanzaa.

“Almost as phoney-baloney a ‘holiday’ as Kwanzaa.”

Kamala said that when she was a girl (I think they lived in Canada then), they celebrated Kwanzaa. Only problem is that Kwanzaa wasn’t made up until many years after that.

Can a person be a Democrat and NOT lie? Is it even possible?

It’s the demographics. TX has Cinco de Mayo for the illegals.

If they’re gonna have a Juneteenth holiday, I hope they mention that the slaves were held by Democrats. And they were freed by Republican soldiers led by a Republican president.

(I’m dreaming, I know.)

Total BS of course and I think the PAGOP was in majority. How about a Gettysburg day or the end of the Civil War? This kind of crap makes me so mad that I simply think not one man was worth giving his life in any American war for the trash people we have today especially scum politicians.

Even if they were open, blacks don’t know how to get an ID, or show up and vote, or use the internet, or think for themselves. Their demoncrap plantation massahs are there to do that for them.

I think Tom Wolf is trying to position himself to be appointed VP under Kamel-Toe when Xio expires.

His real goal is to do the Gerald Ford thing when she is ruled ineligible.

I don’t honestly have a problem with celebrating the end of slavery.. it was an abomination and its end should be celebrated...

I question highly the selection of 6/19, because not one single slave was actually freed on the day the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

2 Union states were slave states, MD and WV, all other slaves states at that time were NOT part of the union... The declaration only covered slaves in the states currently in rebellion, which of course were not under US Federal Jurisdiction at that time...

So while it was a brilliant political move that ensure Europe would not enter the war on the side of the south, which was a very real possibility up until that point.. The document itself actually freed NO ONE.

Not only that but slaves weren’t freed in Confederate states or portions thereof under Union control on January 1st. The Emancipation Proclamation made that quite clear by listing the states/counties/parishes that it did not apply to.

Why? Because Lincoln had no power to free the slaves, who were legally owned property. He claimed the power as Commander-in-Chief to free slaves who might be employed by the Confederates as a war measure, just as intercepting private ships leaving Confederate ports.

That’s why I don’t use Google Calendar anymore. You can’t delete stupid holidays like Juneteenth.

Pennsylvania was the first state to gradually eliminate slavery, in 1780. By 1850, there were no slaves. Another guilt induced holiday for state workers.

How about they take a work break. Unkn, a break away from ordering on Amazon, coffee breaks, BS office gossiping, endless meetings to discuss what they need to do, and lunch hours+.

I had it backwards:

1) Kamel-toe is ruled ineligible/incompentent and resigns or is removed.

2) Wokie Wolfie is appointed by Xio on the because Tommie is so progressive, really believes in the magik mask, and gave the nation Dr. Levine.

3) “Something happens” and suddenly Tommie = Gerald Ford II.
