Dem Sen. Sinema: The Filibuster Is "A Tool That Protects The Democracy Of Our Nation"

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) made her support for the Senate filibuster clear while touring the U.S. border facilities in Arizona with colleague Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) on Tuesday.

"I've long been a proponent of the filibuster because it is a tool that protects the democracy of our nation,” Sinema told reporters at a press event.

"Rather than allowing our country to ricochet wildly every two to four years back and forth between parties."

"To those who say that we must make a choice between the filibuster and 'X,' I say, this is a false choice," she said.

"The reality is that when you have a system that is not working effectively — and I would think that most would agree that the Senate is not a particularly well-oiled machine, right? The way to fix that is to fix your behavior, not to eliminate the rules or change the rules, but to change the behavior," Sinema said.

Manchin is still not voting to remove the filibuster or create a DC state either.
He's been saying essentially the same thing Sinema is saying.

When will the media start calling Sinema a “Maverick”?

My guess.... when hell freezes over.

"Sinema is far far better than we could have hoped for."

Just, Hell No.

She refused to be sworn into the Senate on the Holy Bible.

Sinema is a mentally-ill woman with Borderline Personality Disorder.

She believes she is living a character from a feral, dystopian movie series that eventually sank the careers of everyone involved, including a former Oscar winner who checked out on drugs before filming was over.

She needs to be beaten soundly in 2024, of which this thread will contribute nothing to that conservative cause.

McCain had been a thorn in the right as a “Maverick”. Now it’s time for Sinema to return the favor from the left.

We’re not a democracy, but I’ll take the sentiment.

She’s more likely to win as a “Maverick”. If she was a far left Democrat, she’ll alienate the independent voters and a Republican candidate would be more likely to win in 2024.

Sinema seems to be an improvement over former "GOP" senators McCain and Jeff Flake.

As the RINO pushers like to say, a lesser-of-two-eeevils compared to McCain and Flake.

Seems like we can’t trust a single statewide elected Republican in Arizona.

They all turn around and stab us in the back.... Ducey, McCain, Flake.

(Almost) none of the Democrats want to give away their power, but they aren't willing to say so publicly. Bernie and a few others being exceptions. I don't think Chucky Cheese Schumer wants to give up any of his power.

They are happy to see Sinema and Manchin take all the slings and arrows, which they can do, because it won't hurt them at the voting booth. They will never be primaried because of this.

I did not vote for her. And I am not going to fall for Sinema anytime soon, but she is far less damaging than virtually any Democrat I can think of. That being said, will this continue, or will Cadaver Pelousy find some way of black mailing Sinema? No one should be surprised, if so.

I don’t think the democrats have the guts to remove the filibuster. They are on track to lose the congress next year but don’t want to lose the power to stop the conservative legislation when the Republicans have the White House. This is all a charade where the majority of the party pretends to want it in order to appease the far left win of their party. And it helps them to make Sinema and Manchin look like moderates.

A bare majority should not be able to dictate to the other 49.99%.

We would certainly be a better nation with a LOT fewer laws .

When the Republicans take Congress next year, she’ll be suddenly lauded as a hero of the left...

The fact we have two Democrats upholding the filibuster is amazing.

She’s a Arizona Democrat in the traditional mold.

She's acting like one, anyway - for the moment. Her history is support for the communist party & writing for their newsletter, a Code Pink activist, etc.

She has an extreme leftist past, was once ran as an indie to the left of the democrats, I find it hard to believe she’s suddenly kinda sorta a little moderate.

Kelly was selected because he was an “astronaut” and is married to that dumb bitch that got shot, it’s all about marketing.
