ALBANY — A Cohoes man charged with second-degree manslaughter and felony assault in the methamphetamine overdose death of a 6-week-old baby was ordered released from the Albany County jail on Tuesday under supervision of probation officials. Anthony Ojeda, 38, a native of Mexico, who had been jailed without bail after initially being held on $100,000, cannot leave Albany County and must attend substance abuse counseling. He will be subject to electronic monitoring of his whereabouts and must surrender all passports, County Judge William Carter told the defendant. “Although the possibility is remote, there is still a possibility that he could flee,” the judge said, noting Ojeda’s husband is from Ecuador. Ojeda is accused of recklessly causing the death of the infant, Eli Harmon-Ojeda, who had injuries to his ribs and head and had appeared to overdose from ingesting methamphetamine Dec. 3

No bail!? A friend of mine’s son was married about 10 years ago. On the way to the reception, a drunk driver plowed into the bride’s parents’ car, killing them both instantly. He was an illegal alien with no drivers license or insurance. At his arraignment, his attorney begged the court to remove the $1 million bail sought by the prosecution because he was a flight risk. The STUPID judge said, because he was poor, bail would be $10,000.
He has not been seen since.

What happened to your friend’s family is terrible. The same thing will happen in this case. The perp will flee to Mexico as fast as he possibly can. Those ankle bracelet trackers can be removed and have been in other cases.

A 6 week old can not pick up drugs someone left lying around. That meth had to be put in that child’s bottle.
