Conservative talk show host Dana Loesch is set to replace the late Rush Limbaugh's show in a multiplatform deal with Audacy and Radio America.
Her show will be broadcasted in 11 markets including Kansas City, Las Vegas, Richmond, Wichita, Gainesville, Greenville-Spartanburg, Philadelphia, Austin, Buffalo, St. Louis and Hartford, according to a press release from the companies.
"We're thrilled to partner with Radio America and welcome Dana Loesch to our broadcast and digital platform," Jeff Sottolano, executive vice president of programming for Audacy, said. "Dana is a leading conservative voice and influencer and both her daily live show and future original podcast are terrific additions to our best-in-class news and talk offerings."
Loesch told The Hill in a statement that she is not attempting "to be Rush" who died in February from cancer.

“Replace Rush” to me means those who can do news discussions dealing with current events in light of true conservative viewpoints, but with the ability to present information and the conservative philosophy for easy comprehension by all, AND with humor. Loads of humor.
The problem with all of these replacement-wannabe’s is that they are boring boring boring. Rush was fun, he laughed at the situations and told us why they were funny, and he couldn’t contain himself during the discussions. Only Mark Steyne comes close, but Dana is funny, too. Her impersonations and silly voices when she’s mocking some hoity-toity wine-and-croissant actress or news reader are hilarious. She needs to develop more running gags/bits (I know she does Florida Man, that’s a start). But compare with Rush, with his theme songs for animal rights and gay life, and does anyone remember his caller abortion sound effect (flushing toilet when he hung up on crazy callers)? Etc. And Rush’s parody songs and parody skits with....? Paul Shankland....were great. That’s what I want, with the conservative viewpoint and discussion, not terse angry monotone lectures.
we really should have three hours of RADIO SILENCE to honor Rush?
Yeah that’s about what all the blabber will amount to with this line up. Stopped listening to radio and TV blabber after Nov4
They are trying to sort out the next “Rush”. Only, there is not likely to be someone with such universal appeal and obvious talent. I think the market is going to fracture among various hosts in that time slot.
Right now Chris Plante is my favorite radio host. Bongino is good and I enjoy listening to him. Dana is decent, I like her. Sexton sucks, so hopefully he fails hard.
They are going to keep throwing spaghetti at the wall until something sticks, but I don’t see it being one person, the way El Rushbo dominated the air waves. He was one in a million.
>>and does anyone remember his caller abortion sound effect (flushing toilet when he hung up on crazy callers)?
Wasn’t that at a time that Rush was being targeted by “seminar callers” who under false pretense claimed to be lifelong fans, dittos, etc. and then would say “BUT...” and go right to the Democrat talking points for that day?
I still wish Mark Stein wanted a shot at Rush’s spot and they would give it to him. It seems like Stein is not interested in having his own daily show. I think he would be terrific.
He’s really the only answer.
I wonder if he and Snerdly talked about it?
What time is Derek Hunter on? Thanks.
Love to see Ben Domenech doing the show. He is awesome ... did you catch his show on Fox last evening at 7pm. His opening monologue was “Consider the possibility that we are led by idiots”. Nailed it!
I would prefer Mark Steyn.
Anyone know where Bongino is on an AM station in the Tampa Bay area?
“the only one I would spend three hours listening to would be Bongino.”
I enjoy his show, too. I like his energy, which sometimes if over the top, but all the others are a snorefest.
Ditto. None of these “replacements” are actual heirs to the throne. Initially, we were told that Rush’s show would continue, with the “guide hosts” and relevant clips of wisdom from El Rushbo. And, according to the WSJ, that format was still retaining 75-80% of Rush’s audience, which is a surprisingly strong performance, and a true testament to the power of the Limbaugh brand.
Of course, it was inevitable that other syndicators would begin offering their programs to Rush affiliates in the wake of his passing. Truth be told (as someone who worked in the broadcasting salt mines years ago), some of the stations were approached while Rush was still alive, and I’m sure general managers and program directors listened to the pitch—you have to be prepared for all contingencies, and radio syndication is a cut-throat business. The greatest talk host of all time is dying? Well, let’s try to drum up a little business and recruit a few more affiliates after he passes on.
The move by Premier is a bit more surprising, since (a) we were told the current format would continue and (b) it seemed to be working. Premier and IHeart must have been spooked by some of the large affiliate defections and may have detected some weakening in the most recent ratings, hence the roll-out of the Clay Travis/Buck Sexton show.
As Rush would say, “flag the tape;” (or in this case, post). I’ll go out on a very short limb and predict the Travis/Sexton program will be a flop. Both are very good in their own right, but they’ve never worked together, and they’re supposed to have instant chemistry from Day One. The pairing suggests a compromise; half the suits from Premier wanted Buck, the rest wanted Clay Travis, so the solution is...put them together.
After Rush’s death, I predicted that Buck would eventually inherit the 12 noon - 3 pm slot. He’s sharp, talented and adapted to radio very quickly. But the addition of Travis was a surprise—guessing Premier is hoping his huge social media following will bring more listeners to the show.
However, this is also worth noting: in his note to fans about his new gig, Travis never mentioned Buck Sexton once. Let’s see...you’re about to embark on a nationally syndicated radio show, backed by the biggest company in the business (Premier) and you never reference the guy who is going to be your co-host? There may be trouble brewing in the studio even before the first show.
“the only one I would spend three hours listening to would be Bongino.”
I enjoy his show, too. I like his energy, which sometimes if over the top, but all the others are a snorefest.
Knowing no one can replace Rush but I agree Bongino is a great choice. I will check out the others on the net as they are not broadcast in my area as Bongino is on WBAP. So far, loving his approach and opinions and pointing out the facts ignored or obfuscated by the main “liberal-loving” press.
Not sure if Steyn’s not interested, or Premier wasn’t interested in him. Mark frequently filled in for Rush, right up until his passing. Then “poof,” Mark was gone, while other subs like Ken Matthews, Mark Herman and Jason Lewis rotated behind the “Golden EIB Microphone.”
Rush had absolute veto power over who filled in for him. He liked Mark, but when Rush died, Mark’s days as a guest host ended. That was clearly a decision made by Premier..
Still looking to see who will be on in the Phoenix market.
But is she entertaining? Can she point out irony and inject humor?
I would guess that there will not be a dominate single player anymore the way Rush was. It will be positive to have many more voices on the airwaves and a few will rise to the top for the afternoon time slot.
Nobody can replace Rush...
Nobody can replace Rush...
I really don’t care what they thought of Trump in 2016. It is 2021 and time to roll!
