Only 1 Pa. county has high spread of COVID-19, as statewide positive test rate drops to 3.8%

Only one Pennsylvania county is demonstrating substantial spread of COVID-19, Gov. Tom Wolf’s office said Tuesday.

Wyoming County is the only county in the commonwealth with high transmission of the coronavirus, according to Wolf’s office.

The number of counties with high transmission has dropped dramatically in recent weeks. Last week, five counties showed substantial spread of the coronavirus, Wolf’s office said. Just three weeks ago, 40 of the state’s 67 counties were still showing substantial transmission.

The percentage of positive COVID-19 tests dropped to 3.8% for the week of May 21-27, down from 4.5% the previous week. It’s the sixth consecutive week the rate of positive tests has declined. It’s also the second week in a row the state’s positive rate has been below 5%, which health officials have previously said is a sign of concern.

“COVID is tough, but together Pennsylvanians are tougher. Pennsylvania continues to see positive trends – low case counts and increased vaccinations every day,” Wolf said in a statement. “Over 50 percent of Pennsylvanians are fully vaccinated and that number continues to increase.”

As more people have been vaccinated, fewer new infections and hospitalizations are being reported by state officials.

On Memorial Day, the state’s COVID-19 restrictions on businesses and gatherings came to an end. Restaurants, pro sports teams and entertainment venues, including amusement parks, casinos and theaters, can operate at full capacity.

Pennsylvania’s mask order remains in effect. Pennsylvania will lift the mask order on June 28 or when 70% of the state’s adults are fully vaccinated, whichever comes first, Acting Health Secretary Alison Beam said last week.

So far, 54% of the state’s adults are fully vaccinated. The Wolf administration said in late May 70% of the state’s adults have had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccines.

A closer look

The Wolf administration uses three categories to gauge the transmission of COVID-19: low, moderate and substantial. The Wolf administration offers a weekly report on the number of counties with substantial spread of COVID-19.

Statewide, 56 counties are seeing moderate spread of COVID-19, while 10 counties are now seeing low transmission.

Here’s a look at the transmission rates in each county.

Low: Cameron, Clarion, Elk, Forest, Fulton, Montour, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan and Warren

Moderate: Adams, Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Berks, Blair, Bradford, Bucks, Butler, Cambria, Carbon, Centre, Chester, Clearfield, Clinton, Columbia, Crawford, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Erie, Fayette, Franklin, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Juniata, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lawrence, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, McKean, Mercer, Mifflin, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Northumberland, Perry, Philadelphia, Pike, Schuylkill, Somerset, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Venango, Washington, Wayne, Westmoreland and York

Substantial: Wyoming

Hospitalizations drop

For the first time in months, fewer than 1,000 people are being treated for COVID-19 in hospitals, according to the Pennsylvania Health Department’s online dashboard.

Statewide, 989 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19. In mid-March, more than 2,800 people have been treated in hospitals.

Health officials continue to stress the importance of getting the COVID-19 shots as the pace of the vaccination effort has slowed. Over the past week, an average of 43,000 people per day have been getting vaccinated. At the peak, the state was seeing more than 100,000 vaccinations per day.

Across Pennsylvania, 1.2 million people have contracted the coronavirus and more than 27,000 deaths have been tied to COVID-19, according to the health department.

Most of those who are infected with the coronavirus deal with relatively minor flu-like symptoms and some don’t get sick at all. But doctors say COVID-19 poses risks to everyone, particularly seniors and those with certain health complications.

The decline in "positivity" is astounding...a 15.5% decrease from the previous week.

Prediction: 3.2% or less next week.

So, COVID 19 is seriously deadly, according to our” leaders”.

Now, one can go maskless into any store.....signs say that if you’re vaccinated you don’t have to wear one.

We’re now leaving mask wearing to the “honor system”.
I thought this was the most deadly virus in the history of the galaxy.

Tells you all you need to know....we’ve been lied to.

After 15 months of crying “wolf” very few will take HHS, CDC, or WHO seriously if a truly deadly pestilence were to be unleashed.

All part of the plan...

I said all along, “cases, shmases”.

The only thing that matters are hospitalizations DUE TO (not “with”) COVID and ICU hospitalizations DUE TO (not “with”) COVID.

The USA as a whole reported:

May 28th - 21,727 cases
May 29th - 11,590 cases
May 30th - 7,428 cases
May 31st - 5,602 cases

This is a far far cry from the 300,628 cases reported January 8th.

Hamilton County Ohio, home of Cincinnati reported zero cases for yesterday, down from a high of 1727 cases on Dec, 8th.

As it always has been, cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough (with your elbow if you can) and frequently wash your hands thoroughly. No need to shut the planet down.

Trump is out. He’s not coming back unless he gets elected like Grover Cleveland by running again in 2024 and actually winning.
