“…the choice, would choose free cash and the ability to either sit on the couch and watch Netflix or earn some extra tax-free money under the table…”
*******************************************************
And there IS a lot of under-the-table and under false identity work going on while receiving the enhanced unemployment benefits.

My local Food Lion can’t keep their shelves stocked. My favorite local bar has to close on Sunday because they can’t hire enough help. Local restaurants ask for customer indulgence for slow service due to under staffing. It is reported that we can expect gas shortages this summer due to lack of drivers.

The Biden/Pelosi subsidized worker shortage is undermining the work ethic, corrupting people and hurting the economy. Despicable.

The great irony is that the government acted like COVID was an existential crisis. Death rates through the roof! Everyone was dying! We would be depopulated! We wouldn’t have enough hospital workers to handle to dying!

In reality, COVID was never an existential crisis, they inflated the numbers, and it was basically a bad flu.

And even so, here we are, not enough workers, huge labor shortage, businesses shutting down because all the people are gone.

Even the local mexican restaurant has a “help wanted” sign up.

You know it’s bad when they can’t find a mexican to wait tables...

Now hiring signs up all over the place. Makes me wish I was 10 years younger and able to handle 40 a week again. Drivers, Cat place needs a mechanic, 2 or other mechanic signs, big lots, wally world, dollar general, grocery store, dollar tree, academy, fast food, you name it they have signs up.

The libs want higher wages.....which is happening, so they can claim victory. Of course inflation is eating away at higher wages faster than the normal persons wage growth so folks are most likely worse off.

Plus the politics. The folks they give handouts too are guaranteed to vote for them, small business owners, not so much.

Biden is scum

The author is correct on one count but is completely discredited because facts don’t support his general point.

1. From my perspective, the employers who are having the most difficult time hiring staff aren’t small businesses, but large companies in industries that rely on entry-level labor (restaurant chains, grocery stores, retail giants, etc.). In my circle of business contacts, the small businesses that are run as family-owned establishments and hire few employees outside the family have been thriving since the COVID fiasco began.

2. His statement that trucking companies have always paid fair/competitive wages is ludicrous. The trucking industry has effectively turned its most important function into a minimum wage job.

I see help wanted signs everywhere. Those who desperately need a job can get one. I do think some are lazy, make more money on the dole, can’t pass drug test or think they are above most jobs as they hold a worthless college degree.

I can’t find any argument with anything you posted...

Quite a shame that we have so called “leaders” setting us up for a fall like this...

The author also doesn’t realize this country is already bankrupt. $33T dollars in short term debt, $6T in spending each year. I personally don’t believe there is any such thing as a trillion dollars, but it doesn’t matter, broke is broke.
