My guess with the breakthrough cases is that people don’t really understand how it works. Just like the fanatics who are afraid one little individual virus will get through their defenses and makes them sick, these people think the vaccination will protect against every contact with an unvaccinated person, no matter how prolonged and intimate.
When your immune system is overcome—whether because it is not adequate or because you received an adequate dose of virus—you will be infected. That’s how I see it. Avoid the storm of virions from wherever it comes from. Stay away from unvaccinated people except for short periods of time and at a distance of some kind.
In other words, use common sense, even if vaccinated.
