Here's the ATF's Plan to Tackle So-Called 'Ghost Guns'

President Joe Biden is launching a phantom crusade against so-called ghost guns. They don’t exist. It sounds like something from Star Wars, but never count Democrats out for inventing stuff out of thin air. Regardless, the Biden Administration is tasking the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for tweaking the current federal statutes to curb gun rights for law-abiding Americans. That’s always the byproduct of any lefty anti-gun push. And now, The Reload has obtained a 100-page copy of the proposed rules the ATF is poised to enact. The Reload is the current outfit for Stephen Gutowski, who was formerly with the Washington Free Beacon as their firearms reporter. For now, it looks like the Biden folks are working to tweak the meaning of a firearm receiver:

This is bound to be one of the many salvos fired by this administration on gun control. It’s not a gun grab per se—but always keep an eye out when Democrats start talking about firearms, ghost guns, and other made-up terms. For example, Biden again has called for the elimination of so-called assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, the latter of which would be an essential ban of most firearms, including handguns, that are commonly owned by civilians.

I think the number of homicides committed with "ghost guns" built from 80% complete receivers is approximately zero, isn't it?

Leave it to Democrats to "solve" a non-existent "problem" and pretend they're making progress.

***President Joe Biden is launching a phantom crusade against so-called ghost guns.***

Home made Guns are as American as Apple Pie. Going back to the Regulator War of 1766-1771, North Carolina, when the British hanged several American gun makers.

The Libs must have gun control before they can enact the Socialist Gov’t in the USA. In 1932 Hitler requested and the German population obliged to register their firearms. As a result of that voluntary action by the public, in 1938 Hitler confiscated all of the registered firearms that were licensed. When the Nazis came to your door in 1938 and you refused to surrender your registered arms, you were summarily taken outside and executed. So goes the Dems in their drive to Socialize America, they must have complete gun control. Ask any older Cuban or Venezuelan. on Socializing their countries.
Obozo and Jarrett do not have their allegiance with the USA and hate Democracy which is evident in controlling Biden.

The typical modus operandi of the democRATS is to create a problem where none previously existed and then step in to the mess and claim they have the answer to correct the problem that they themselves created.

This is their entire playbook of policies. They have nothing else.

I wonder if Biden-or ANY of those asshats surrounding him- knows that the lower receiver, which is the part that has the serial number, has to be obtained from a dealer, unless they are one of the “wealthy” that can afford a hugely expensive 3D printer. Bet he doesn’t.
Thugs will continue to get their guns the old fashioned way no matter WHAT this idiot does.

Has a ‘ghost gun’ ever been used in an actual criminal act...other than being a criminal by legislation...?

Some of these assclowns would have a coronary if they saw some of the guns coming out of the north east reaches of India. From a year or so ago:

Ghost guns? From an article about the hand made firearms in India:

Illegal manufacturing started locally after government’s gun units gradually shut down after India’s independence, leading to several expert gunmakers becoming unemployed. Many of them secretly began manufacturing guns at their homes, teaching the craft to others and leading to the eventual proliferation of Munger’s underground industry. “With no jobs, what would our youth do if not make arms? In many villages, even children are trained in the craft. Pet to paalna hai na sabko (everyone needs to earn),” Shukla says. According to him, entire families and villages are involved, with incomes of upto 10-15 times of what they would otherwise earn. “A katta is sold for around Rs 5,000, a pistol for Rs 35,000 and a Beretta copy for Rs 80,000. I just buy from villagers and sell to big players at a margin.”

The returns are enormous for workers and suppliers alike. “Even if they sell a pistol for Rs 20,000 every week, their monthly income is Rs 70,000-80,000. Instead, if they work as an honest labourer, they’d earn just Rs 250 daily.” He says many young boys are now so skilled that they can make an AK-47 prototype just by looking at the design once, often ending up making guns that even legit Indian gun factories don’t. “You bring any Chinese gun or a even a Kalashnikov to them, and they can replicate it to be one as good as the original. People in Russia make AK-47s from machines. Here, we make it using our hands. Without any education.”

“One court example included in the document said a part completed in “around an eight-hour working day in a properly equipped machine shop” was considered “readily” convertible.”

You could make the whole gun in that time.

Last December the AFT raided Polymer80 because they determined that Polymer80's "Buy, Build, Shoot" kits were firearms.

A "Buy, Build, Shoot" kit consists of an 80% Glock receiver, plus a jig and all bits necessary to complete the receiver, and all of the parts necessary to assemble the completed receiver into a functioning firearm.

The AFT didn't target all Polymer80 80% lowers, just the ones sold in the Buy, Build, Shoot kits. The AFT's reasoning is that since everything necessary to construct a firearm is in one convenient kit, that constitutes a "firearm" under the law. But if you have to shop for your own accessories such as trigger groups, barrels, slides, springs, and magazines, the 80% lower by itself is not a firearm.

Chances are very good that the AFT's proposals will be to codify into regulations these distinctions between selling an 80% frame and selling an 80% frame with all of the accessories necessary to complete the frame.

“They” are already conflating stolen guns that have had the serial number filed off with “ghost guns”.
These will be lumped together to try to get the statistics that are desired.

That's not the problem they're trying to solve. And yes, it is a 'real' problem, but only from a tyrant's perspective.
