Mrna is a single strand of nucleotides. A spike proteien is not single stranded. 1+0=1.. so where do the required nucleotides come from. You can ask the cdc. I am sure they would be truthful.
That statement needs to be read carefully. Our cells make a piece of the spike protein. Further reading at your link confirms that.
So, this study may well shed some interesting light on COVID-19's effect on us via it's spike protein, but, it says nothing about what a piece of that protein might do. Most likely, besides being an irritant, not much. Expecting some sort of wild genetic side effects would be like expecting a tire on my car, removed from it, to transport me to town in comfort, all by itself. But I really should not leave the tire where I might trip over it in the dark.
