Just to be clear: I am not saying these people are ill-intentioned or even evil for wishing to change the curriculum. There might be valid reasons for wanting a change...
It is their rationale that is the egregious filthy thing: “unequal representation of minority races”.
THAT is not among the “valid reasons for wanting a change”.
I would be willing to listen to someone say something like “we don’t have enough freshmen and sophmores in these classes, so there are so few that we don’t think we can afford a teacher to spend an hour teaching three kids” or whatever.
I would consider that. But “unequal representation of minority races”?
What they are pushing is evil. And it has NOTHING to do with trying to better minority students, and everything to do with degrading everything down so even though nobody gets left behind, the ship is simply dead in the water and everyone drowns together.
Dropping advanced math and legalizing pot...

Yes Virginia, math can be hard for those that don't study, so we need to stop teaching it.
They want everyone on track for higher level math. I have no complaint with that goal.

The goals talk about improving the math curriculum. The curriculum isn't supposed to change for another 5 years, if I understand the timeline.
If it were up to me, public schools wouldn't even exist, except for basic public education programs handled locally. So, I wouldn't care if they cut advanced math courses in public school. But, they're not cutting those courses. They're putting everyone on track for higher level math in high school.
Because they are fools who are making resume statistics that have nothing to do with reality.
The curriculum has always been intended to prepare students for higher level math and to weed out those who do not have mathematical aptitude.

Well, since we are handing the country over to the minorities and millennials as there will be no further legitimate election....we’re talking about the lesser of two evils I guess I have to root for Putin to get here before the Chinese. Maybe they will let the few of us who actually know how to work serve the motherland. The assholes who got us into this will get liquidated as they were always charlatans without skills.

Thanks for the link, but if the infographic is correct, then “Essential Math” is supposed to prepare students for the higher level math.
Despite the opinions quoted in that article, the infographic states that “Essential Math” would include algebra and functions, so it sounds like it will include Algebra 1 & 2.
Any parents worried about leftist indoctrination probably shouldn’t have their kids in public school at all.
Inequality must be eliminated.
Not just by denying advanced education to the gifted, but by hobbling the athletic, and maiming the beautiful.
All must be made equal in the eyes of the Lord (in this case, meaning the State).
I wonder if they will do that for drivers education?
