Neoconservative House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) has slammed President Joe Biden’s reported plan to remove the remaining 2,500 U.S. troops from Afghanistan by September.
“Withdrawing our forces from Afghanistan by September 11 will only embolden the very jihadists who attacked our homeland on that day twenty years ago,” Cheney declared Tuesday in a statement obtained by National Review. “By declaring that this withdrawal is not based on conditions on the ground, the Biden Administration is sending a dangerous signal that the United States fundamentally does not understand—or is willfully ignorant of—the terrorist threat.”

Glad you asked. I’ve spent four years of my life, including the majority of 2019 in Afghanistan. I have witnessed US personnel die for nothing. We were all praying that Uncle Donnie would just unilaterally pull us out.

The original rationale for invading Afghanistan was that the then ruling Taliban was giving refuge to Osama Bin Laden. Osama has been dead for a long time. Perhaps Liz Cheney can give a speech in the House explaining the vital American security interests that remain in Afghanistan. She might also explain why GW Bush and her father, both who became incredibly wealthy dealing oil with the Saudis, invaded Iraq and never held the 9/11 Saudis accountable. Best of all she can explain it all to the families of the over 6,000 brave, dead Americans and the tens of thousands who have been physically and psychologically maimed. Afterwards she can go to lunch with Michelle Obama.
And just leaving them there after 21 years does what .... ?
