As I was scrolling through my newsfeed recently I came across a link to a CNN chyron that read “Fox’s Biggest Stars Have Not Shared Vaccine Selfies.”
Despite it coming from Brian Stelter’s“Reliable Sources,” my initial reaction was that it was parody. Even CNN, the network that shamelessly pushed the Russian collusion hoax, the Charlottesville “very fine people” hoax, and tried to make a story out of then-President Trump eating two scoops of ice cream, wouldn’t beclown itself this way, would it?
But, alas, beclown themselves this way they did.
Stelter, while speaking with Matt Gertz of Media Matters, said that "[I]t’s really important to see all these TV anchors, personalities, showing themselves getting the shot. We’ve seen a lot of vaccine selfies from lots of folks at lots of different networks. It’s been really inspiring to see. So, I say all of that to make the following point: Where are Tucker and Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham? Where is Ainsley Earhardt and Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade? Where are the biggest stars on Fox getting vaccinated?
Gertz replied that Fox has a unique responsibility and called these Fox personalities “abhorrent” for “raising questions about [the vaccine’s] effectiveness, raising questions about whether it is dangerous.”
However, as much as this ridiculous bit deserves to be mercilessly mocked (and it does), Stelter’s perspective exemplifies an underlying principle of Leftism, namely, that the Left only cares about the empty signaling of virtue without actually carrying that virtue out.
What Stelter and Gertz are really saying here, whether they know it or not, is that the Fox personalities are showing themselves to be worse people by not using vaccine selfies to tell the world that they’re taking the coronavirus seriously.
Never mind that there have been Fox personalities that have gotten the vaccine, some of whom shared vaccine selfies, such as Janice Dean and Mike Emanuel.
This is nothing new, however. Leftists play this game in every area. This worldview is what causes woke celebrities to post black squares on their Twitter pages to show that they’re standing against “police brutality,” even though they share no ideas on how to help policing or race relations improve. It’s how you see Patrisse Khan-Cullors, a leader of Black Lives Matter and a self-proclaimed “trained Marxist,” immediately turn around and buy a $1.4 million home in an overwhelmingly white Los Angeles neighborhood. It’s why, despite having no scientific basis for doing so, people will still wear masks while walking alone outside.
I could go on and on.
Stelter, Gertz and the rest of the Left side of the political spectrum, whether they know it or not, do not care if the people they criticize for not proving they got the vaccine (a vaccine which, interestingly, Leftists lambasted at every opportunity they could before the November election) actually get vaccinated. Nor do they care whether these Fox personalities use their public platforms to talk about COVID-19 and raise awareness of the virus in rational ways, use data in their arguments, and go where the evidence leads, without screaming to the world, “Look at me!”
The only thing a leftest cares about is lefty virtue.. IOW: votes, power/control and money.
Nothing else.
The left is extremely virtuous. They just have a different list of virtues than those of us on the right.
Of course they don’t. We are the only people who give a crap about actual virtue. To them, it’s a weapon to be used against us.
How does one deny the enemy the ability to use your better nature against you without losing that nature?
The answer to that question is necessary to win this cultural war.
There is a chasmic difference between leftist virtue and actual moral based virtue. The leftists have their own definition of virtues, derived mostly from what they want to be virtuous rather than what is morally virtuous. Jerrold Nadless has expressed the leftist’s limits of virtue and moirality when he asserted that there is no place for notions of god in the US House of Representatives. Nadler is on a slide to Hell even as we type. His future is horrific ...
Progressives have again discovered that “virtue” is a stick to leverage and beat more-productive opponents with.
Progressives have again forgotten that eventually that sick will be used to leverage and beat themselves by the even more progressive, and less productive, ever-more-extreme Progressives.
CCPNN personality Midwin Charles went to Covid virtue signaling heaven...
That is why their cultural expressions are pointless. They are boring.
“The object of terrorism is terrorism. The object of oppression is oppression. The object of torture is torture. The object of murder is murder. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?”
― George Orwell, 1984
They couldn’t give a cr*p about virtue... or any other redeeming qualities.
Are GOP politicians any more virtuous than Democrats? Given their willingness to constantly lie to the voter base and do the bidding of the donors who put money into their pockets, I don’t see them as more honorable or virtuous people. Look at what is occurring today and most are standing by silent while liberties are being taken from the people and the politics of personal destruction is applied to average citizens. The man who stands by and allows his neighbor’s house to be burned to the ground is acquiescing to the crime and his failure to act attests to his weakness, selfishness, and possibly depravity. Certainly not to virtue.
George H.W. Bush (no new taxes, open borders, and jobs and American economy destroying “free trade” with mercantilist nations) is no virtuous leader. His son ( Patriot Act, permanent wars in the Middle East, more middle class destroying “free trade’) was not a virtuous leader. A man who send American troops into foreign lands to die, without an end game plan, cannot be considered honorable or virtuous.
John McCain, Mitt Romney, Dennis Hastert, John Boehner, Paul Ryan, Kevin McCarthy, Mitch McConnell. Are these paragons of virtue? Sorry they are self centered egotists who crave power over other human beings and willingly betray “friends”, constituents, and the nation when it serves their self interest. If they were virtuous men, where was their condemnation of Joe Biden through the years when he told falsehoods, nearly destroyed Clarence Thomas, used his influence to secure millions in foreign money for his worthless son? Where were they in demanding a federal investigation of the pay to play Clinton Foundation? Noticably absent. Likely at home counting their own ill gotten gains.
What Republican leader, so quick to condemn a few hundred people entering the capitol but doing little damage, is loudly taking a public stand against the BLM riots in Minnesota or the nightly Antifa destruction in Portland? Which of them is trying to bring perspective to the false narrative about January 6, 2021? How many came out and spoke to the 200,000 plus citizens who peacefully protested on the mall that day? Silence from Republican politicians who participated in the condemning of the 200,000 along with the few hundred who entered the Capitol?
How many GOP leaders are demanding the name of the killer of Ashli Babbitt in the Capitol that day and a full accounting of the events leading to her death? Is silence virtuous behavior? It has been four months.
The founders recognized the need for virtuous men in public life. I see very few on the national scene. Almost none in national politics, the military senior officers, corporate executives, journalists, entertainment, sports. Even the clergy is stained by pedophilia.
Where are the virtuous people in this country?
They have the virtue of the world.
