The sergeant major of the Army commended the second lieutenant whose December traffic stop prompted a lawsuit and the firing of a Virginia police officer for remaining cool as a pair of cops pointed their weapons at him.
"Like many of you," Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Grinston tweeted Monday, "I was concerned by the video of [2nd Lt. Caron] Nazario's traffic stop in December. He represented himself and our Army well through his calm, professional response to the situation -- I'm very proud of him."

A new precedent has been set.
No new precedent has been set.
You want proof try disobeying a police officer next time the police stop your car.
Agree, between this guy, BLM and antifa the police are effectively neutered. That may have even uglier unintended consequences.
The cop will rue the day he decided to pull over somebody for a chicken-shit offense that had not even been committed.
This will translate into Army SJWs questioning orders from their superiors eventually...maybe in battle.
Let’s see how proud the Sergeant Major is of them then...
Mkay.
“My take away of this is ...”
Mine is that we’ll never see a full analysis of what happened because there are certain things you don’t say these days if you want to keep your career.
So the Sergeant Major is proud of the guy’s professional behavior. How professional is it to go a mile with blue lights on your tail and not get out of your vehicle when ordered to?
The officer didn’t act perfectly either.
I had a feeling there was more to the story.
Hindsight being 20/20, one question or issue brought up to Lt Sh*t For Brains and, of course, the SMA......
How do you react when someone you give a lawful order to, doesn’t comply with that order?
Q: So Sergeant Major, when you give an order to one of the E4s that work for you and it isn’t obeyed, are you proud of them?
That might be completely legal in Virginia.
The place should never stop another car EVER again. Let anarchy reign upon this country. Make it like Mad Max
It's been that way for quite some time now. Even before Obama was "elected".
Wut? There was no tag visible on the car. Driving without a visible tag is a ‘chicken-shit’ offense?
Have people lost their minds?
Was a lot of nonsense talk on here the other day that his commanding officer would either chew him out, publicly bash him, or throw him out of the army over this.
Agreed.
“The cop will rue the day he decided to pull over somebody for a chicken-shit offense that had not even been committed.”
Please expand on what the offense was that was not even committed. And isn’t it good advice to do what a policeman orders you to do?
It seems the Sargent Major isn’t any smarter than the Butter Bar, both are a disgrace to the uniform I wore proudly.
Actually he was doing his job. May seem chickensh*t to you hero, but it was a valid traffic stop that could have been over and done with in about 5 mins or less.
Of course, we could always have a similar situation and have a driver with no registration, no license, no insurance t-bone you or a family member at an intersection, then you’ll be bitching that the cops aren’t doing their jobs.
