Just 10 miles off the coast of Los Angeles lurks an environmental disaster over 70 years in the making, which few have ever heard about. That is, until now, thanks to the research of a University of California marine scientist named David Valentine.
Working with little more than rumors and a hunch, curiosity guided him 3,000 feet below the ocean's surface. A few hours of research time and an autonomous robotic submersible unearthed what had been hidden since the 1940s: countless barrels of toxic waste, laced with DDT, littering the ocean floor in between Long Beach and Catalina Island.

So? If it’s been there for 70 years, it’s a pretty good bet that all of the barrels have corroded and are no longer sealed, thus, all of the DDT has escaped and dissipated into the vastness of the ocean. Can you measure parts per gazillion?

The article hailed the success of the artificial reef constructed from rocks. If CA had permitted offshore oil production the rigs would have provided ample artificial reefs for many species of fish. Ask Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. Go to Grand Island, LA and charter a red snapper boat and see where the captain takes you—to an offshore oil production platform. Without the platforms, much of the Louisiana Gulf would be devoid of fish populations in numbers ample to support commercial and sport fishing.
So that’s why they are all bat guano crazy...
You could hear the DDT truck spraying for mosquitos for probably a mile away. It left plenty of time to ride your bike over there and join all your friends riding in the in the “smoke.”

Many of them also go out of their way to obtain exposure to low doses of the most lethal poison. It takes less Botox, delivered imprecisely, to kill a human, than any other substance. Pelosi seeks that direct injections of that to multiple body sites for fashion a few times a year. But would not let you spritz your walls with DDT annually to save you life.
I remember now that my dad got the cans of DDT from the feed store mostly to control lice and flies on the cows, horses and pigs. Occasionally we would spray some on an ant hill, but our preference as preteens because it was more fun was to pour gasoline sometimes mixed with diesel on them.
As far as egg thinning goes... our chickens were exposed numerous times and their eggs were fine.
We have people around here jogging alone, bicycling alone, and walking alone wearing masks, often a couple at a time. It says a lot about their level of intelligence to me.
The coast will be free of mosquitos and sand flies......
I am sure some bacteria ate it up just like bacteria eat up all the seeping oil. We never hear about that gulf blowout do we.

The best and safest chemical ever known for fighting mosquitos is jammed on junk science. It was safe enough that my mother was literally dusted with it head to toe every day before she went outside. Her bedroom was dusted as well.
It has never been proven to be anything other than safe and it was not responsible for thinking bird egg shells.
But I se many Freepers still spouting the enviro nonsense.
