Levi Strauss CEO Bergh: ‘When it Comes to Gun Control, Gun Violence Is Ripping This Country Apart’

President and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co. Chip Bergh said Friday on CNN’s “Newsroom” that his company is advocating for so-called gun control because “gun violence is ripping this country apart.”

Bergh said, “I’ve been a CEO now for about ten years. I can tell you that over that 10-year period of time, the role has changed dramatically. You know, the business roundtable, talk about stakeholder management and ensuring that we’re driving value for all stakeholders. I have a large employee base globally. I’ve got communities where we work and serve the communities. So we’ve got a broad range of stakeholders. I really do believe, especially at Levi’s, that I have a platform. We’re committed to making change. This company has been around for 180 years. A big part of the reason I believe we’ve been around for 180 years is we’ve not been afraid to take a position on issues that are really, really important and not been afraid to stick our neck out on these tough issues.”

He continued, “When it comes to gun control, gun violence is ripping this country apart. It’s almost every single day you’re hearing about another incident. So this is important to us as a country. I serve the U.S. Army. We’re not trying to repeal the Second Amendment. We’re just calling for legislation that will make our world a safer place.”

Having served in the Army doesn’t validate an opinion on this matter.

Looks a little dorky to me.

I wear jeans to work every day and out here in BFE, jeans are the pants du jour, worn by everyone all the time-but I stopped buying Levi jeans-or any other items of theirs-years ago when they moved most of their production to foreign countries-they aren’t a real American company, so who gives a flying f*** what their wuss of a CEO thinks?

No CEO....Levi's has been around for 180 years because they made a decent pair of jeans. Plain and simple.

Stop getting woke and listening to your DIE people.

Hahahaha

I’m sure they are.

For this CEO it’s a simple matter of getting behind what he thinks is a winning idea and gets him and his company/brand some free publicity.

I haven’t owned a pair of Levis since the mid-70’s when they started trashing the Boy Scouts.

Nowadays I trash the Boy Scouts, but will still never own another pair of Levis.

Some styles in the "Levi's Premium" and "Levi's Vintage Clothing" lines are, however, made in the United States."

"Made in" doesn't necessarily mean that. Import something made overseas, sew on a few final items, and call it "Made In U.S.A.".

Screw you, soi boi. I stopped buying your overpriced clothing decades ago. If I need a new pair of jeans I buy some that are made on the ORIGINAL Levi’s pattern - Prison Blues from Oregon Prison Industries - for about $25 per pair. “Made on the Inside to be Worn on the Outside”. Big and baggy with suspender buttons and they wear like iron.

Businesses are no longer about making profits or even products or services. No, it’s all about leftist activism from the top-down now.

Businesses that are declining in comparison to past years' performances and know that they can't increase profits are willing to play the activism game.

I’ll bet a lot of criminals are wearing Levi’s when they commit their crimes. We need pants control!

"They don’t punish violent criminals. They punish us."

They encourage criminal violence for an excuse to punish us.

“This is what I can promise you though, 100% for sure! People will continue to murder people even if you could magically make all the firearms in this country disappear.”

Following up the above with your comment on conceal carry. I think more people would get killed if guns disappear because the deterrent effect of the guns are gone. In addition, based on history, government would be more likely to kill people as well.

I dumped Levi’s years ago. Well, bye, again.

How about sabers and hatchets? Hammers? Cars kill, too. Hands strangle and punch. Oh, how about knees!
