Never Trump conservatives like McMullin and Miles Taylor helped elect Joe Biden. Where do they go now? On a cold Friday morning in February, 120 well-known conservatives gathered via Zoom. The meeting was unadvertised and invite-only, and under Chatham House Rule, attendees agreed to not publicly reveal the identity of others outside of that setting.

Wow, what a fool. Just goes to show, education and experience do not give you a lock on common sense.

That whole article made it sound like Republicans were the entire problem. Never even mentioned any opposition to the Democratic party policies. Amazing disconnect. Why not just join the Democrats if he sees no problems with them?

The self-deception in the article itself is jaw-dropping:

Recent polling from Reuters/Ipsos suggest that half of Republicans believe the Jan. 6 attack was largely nonviolent or sparked by left-wing activists, a false theory promulgated by comments from Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, among others.

There were hundreds of thousands of people there, and even if you were to count every single arrest as conclusive proof of violence (obviously untrue), that would still mean that more than 99% were nonviolent. Yet, the author summarily dismisses as a "false theory" the claim that it was "largely nonviolent."

Not sure what the threshold is for "largely", but I'm pretty damn sure 99+% meets it.

“attendees agreed to not publicly reveal the identity of others outside of that setting”

If they aren’t doing anything wrong, then why do they need to hide?

“For thousands of conservatives, Jan. 6 served as the start of a conservative exodus of sorts. In the days that followed the insurrection, at least 140,000 Republicans in 25 states changed their party affiliations, and it’s likely tens of thousands more did the same in other states without readily available data.”

These morons think conservatives are leaving the Republican party because they’re upset about “the insurrection”. Totally clueless.

One of the problems of living in Salt Lake is that it’s quite isolated: all the other big cities are at least 500 miles away.

So the people there get an inflated sense of worth. They think the universe revolves around them. No one around to contradict them.

So you get raving loonies like McMuffin walking around with his head full of helium thinking that the whole world is on the edge of its seat waiting for his pronouncements. Except its only a few guys on the East Benches who give a crap what he thinks, largely because they’re just as insular and provincial as he is.

Pay no attention to yet another Mormon seer, thinking that as one of The Chosen Ones from Zion he’s far more important then he is.

Republicans seems to be hiding a lot these days. Secret meetings. Secret congressional votes. Secret selection of leadership roles...

This creep went on Glenn Becks radio program and lied about Trump kicking a baby out of his rally after the baby’s mother disputed the news story on Fox. This man cares nothing about the truth and Trump always called him “McMuffin” which probably ticked him off to no end.
