First Lady Jill Biden was mocked and criticized on Wednesday afternoon after a botched attempt to speak Spanish. Video of her failed attempt to speak a foreign language then drew attention to a controversial-looking flag that was behind her.
Jill Biden made the remarks during an event speaking to farmworkers on the birthday of Cesar Chavez, a left-wing labor leader and activist who had a history of making bigoted remarks toward immigrants.
“It’s ‘Si se puede’ (Yes you/we can) not ‘Si se pwadueh,'” RGA Deputy Communications Director Joanna Rodriguez, who is fluent in Spanish, tweeted. “I can’t even imagine what word she was trying to say. Seriously why even try pandering if you’re going to butcher it and not practice before?!”

Interesting.
I had a German foreign exchange student in my HS class. In her first week, she was telling about German street gangs. It reminded me of West Side Story. But she said “they went to a place in town they agreed on and would beat each other off.”
Other students were trying to be polite by not snickering, but a few muffled guffaws got out. Of course she meant beat each other UP.
Yeah, it was.
Socialists of a feather flock together.
Bingo
That’s a lot funnier than my “soup” story.
Or learning to read and do math, as if the entire Spanish-speaking world (or even the pre-Columbian civilizations of America) up to this point in time were illiterate and innumerate.
Gah, it makes me furious! They treat people with slightly darker skin, or those not born into English-speaking families, as if they were house pets.
“Un sándwich de queso en plancha, por favor.”
(A grilled cheese sandwich, please)
And of course the most useful of all....
“Disculpe me señor, pero su burro esta pisando mi pie.”
(Pardon me sir, but your donkey is on my foot)
She will never, ever be another FLOTUS like we had for the past four years...
She is a fake, fraud, liar, and phony person, like all the other democRATS...
My late father would resolve the first by pointing at the desired food product, smiling, and showing U.S. dollars. In the second situation, you bellow, “Ooooow!”
MY HUBBY was stationed at Mannheim base, in Germany for almost two years in 1962 and 1963...
Sadly I was not able to join him, was in school and job searching...
He loved his time there...still speaks about it...
In Germany, practically every town has its dialect. I was told, that in Hannover they speak the best literal German. I have never made it there, so I do not know. Assuming that’s the case, I would advise people learning German in school, to try it there first.
I know in Berlin, I can get around pretty well. But even in Leipzig, I had problems. And further south, it is getting worse and worse.
Asking an older gentleman for Krankenhaus, somewhere in Bavaria, I was given a long, long explanation. The only thing, I understood, was the pointing finger. I drove couple of blocks in that direction and asked again, somebody younger. Ja Bayerisch!
The problem is, that Germans are proud of their hometown dialect. They all know literal German from school, but do not use it. When they realize, that you are not local, they would switch to it, if they realize that the other person is German from somewhere away.
If they realize, that you are English, they often just switch to English. Good for communication, bad for practicing your German.
Unless you plan to learn that peculiar dialect, the trick is to get them to speak literal German, but not English.
I thought passing the comprehensive exam in a foreign language was a requirement for a doctorate.
Oh, maybe not for the Ed.D. It’s a low-rigor program.
That was a little before my time ... I was assigned from 1982-1985.
It's the flag of the united farms workers. Been around for years where that commie caesar chavez organized.
Every time I think of it, I LOL.
