A Minnesota woman pleaded guilty today to one count of delivering national defense information to aid a foreign government.
According to court documents, Mariam Taha Thompson, 63, formerly of Rochester, Minnesota, worked as a contract linguist at an overseas U.S. military facility where she was entrusted with a top secret government security clearance.

In December 2019, while Thompson was assigned to a special operations task force facility in Iraq, the United States launched a series of airstrikes in Iraq targeting Kata’ib Hizballah, an Iranian-backed foreign terrorist organization. These airstrikes culminated in a Jan. 3, 2020, strike that resulted in the death of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force commander Qasem Suleimani, as well as the founder of Kata’ib Hizballah, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
Following Suleimani’s death, the unindicted co-conspirator started asking Thompson to provide “them” with information about the human assets who had helped the United States to target Suleimani. Thompson admitted that she understood “them” to be Lebanese Hizballah, including an unnamed high-ranking military commander.

I guess she wasn’t cunning enough.
Give her what they gave Ethyl Rosenberg, and/or Cutsome Salami. Whichever.
Espionage? Treason?
There’s a specific punishment for that.
add’l background:
Mariam Taha Thompson, 61, from Rochester, Minnesota, was arrested on Feb. 27 at a U.S. military facility in Irbil, Iraq, where she was assigned to a special operations task force. Court documents accused her of passing on information about eight people acting as intelligence sources for the U.S., including their true names, photos, background information and other personal data...
...Investigators said that in late December audit logs showed a shift in Thompson’s pattern of access to classified information in computer databases. She began to look at nearly 60 files containing personal data about the human sources, court documents said....
The FBI said she passed the information along to a man with whom she had a romantic interest, knowing that he was a foreign national.

Back in the day, dating foreign nationals was a huge no-no - for exactly this reason. Same reason troops used to have to get permission from the first shirt to get married.
Back in the day the folks from Langley would have dissapeared her ass before anyone from the media even knew what she did. This story would’ve been about a robbery or car jacking gone bad.
I agree.
I have no idea how she was cleared to take part in the translation of secret discussions, being of multiple ethnicity, and multiple citizenship, apparent potential divided loyalty.
Whoever did the security checks periodically really messed it up. They also should be held accountable.
The question is how many people did her crime get killed?Love to see her pre-sentence report to the court.

Wow-
She basically put out an APB/BOLO on the heads of folks working for us.
Many of these folks working for us also have relatives and some of these foreign governments do not play nice/fair.
Bad news-
