KEY POINTS Satellite imagery gives another perspective on the developing situation in Egypt’s Suez Canal, where a mega cargo container ship was turned sideways and stuck.
Imagery captured on Tuesday by a Planet Labs’ Dove satellite showed the stranded ship, called the Ever Given, in the canal.
Suez port agent GAC told Reuters that as of Wednesday morning, Ever Given had been partially refloated and moved against the bank of the canal.

I dunno. Find an ingenious way to float it out?
Offload the cargo and call up some dredges to dig it out until it floats up?
Load it with Muslims because shiite floats.................
Our fleet passed through the Suez on the way to and from the Indian Ocean on a Persian Gulf deployment. It can be very narrow at points. I was very surprised to see how our carrier could squeeze its way through. It’s amazing this doesn’t happen more often.
There’s a previous posting here in FR which I did not link but its here that claims it was the Panama Canal.
Well, then it's no longer blocking the canal?
Can other ships now get through?
Can't the writer report the REAL news about this, instead of disaster porn?
This matters a lot as oil speculators are already using this to drive up the cost per barrel.
A company has been hired to salvage the ship. The CEO stated yesterday that it could take days to weeks to free it. The bulb it buried very deep and the back of the ship is also grounded.
They plan to offload some of it but it is the largest container ship in the world carrying 20,000 containers. Its even larger than aircraft carriers.
The containers have to be individually helicoptered off the ship.
Based on the other sources reporting yesterday, it appears the “partial re-float” story was fake news (or prematurely optimistic) given by an Egyptian govt official.
The vessel is longer and heavier than any of our Nimitz-class aircraft carriers.
It's a track hoe and it runs on diesel.
Evergreen Marine is a Chinese (Taiwanese) company.
And when the Chinese Communists block the shipping routes to the US by blocking off the West Philippines Sea, I guess Asia would be cut off from the US.
Or the loooooooong trip around the Horn of Africa would be possible...
But the Communist Chinese likewise have started with military bases and patrols in the Indian Ocean as well.
I see this as a test run. They can block the world’s navies.
Must have been the same wind that tripped up Biden.
How about offload the cargo and open up the containers to see what the folks (seals?) that scuttled this particular EVERGREEN ship want us to see?
And, screw the canal.
Good thing we’re no longer dependent on foreign oil!
Oh, wait...
