Is There Anything Actually Wrong With 'Christian Nationalism?'

A pattern has emerged. An academic, often from a theologically liberal persuasion, paints a caricature of "Christian nationalism" that is clearly outside the lines of orthodox Christianity. Celebrity pastors and writers then point to that distorted definition, label any related viewpoints as heresy and call for all evangelicals to practice discernment or repent of compromising political idolatry. They point to inappropriate, but mostly anomalous, displays of Christian symbolism in political settings. Few pause long enough to consider what millions of Christians might actually mean when we say that America is a "Christian nation," or champion viewpoints that accord with traditional nationalist principles.

My own definition of "Christian nationalism" would be this: An orientation for engaging in the public square that recognizes America as a Christian nation, where our rights and duties are understood to come from God and where our primary responsibilities as citizens are for building and preserving the strength, prosperity and health of our own country. It is a commitment to an institutional separation between church and state, but not the separation of Christianity from its influence on government and society. It is a belief that our participation in the political system can lead to beneficial outcomes for our own communities, as well as individuals of all faiths.

Critics like Samuel Perry and Andrew Whitehead know the reality that we are a historically Christian nation. The issue is they don't want us advancing public policy based on a "specific vision for the country" because it conflicts with their own vision. They have their own agenda: progressive, secular globalism. That's OK. It's their right, under our system, to have that view and to participate themselves. But let's not pretend...that their agenda is about anything other than power.

"Christian nationalism" is the new term that leftists are using. They draw up "strawman" caricatures of Christians and then imply that Christian arguments for society are wrong. That's legal, even though they are being slanderous, deceitful and dishonest. But it doesn't stop there. The leftists imply that Christians should not even be allowed to advance their arguments in the public square. They don't often come right out and say this, but that is what they are subtly implying and that is what they wish to have happen. They want to use that term to make us and our ideas toxic and automatically excluded from consideration. They used to use the distorted concept of "separation of church and state" to gain the same effect. This is simply a new term to try to gain the same result: gaining power by eliminating their Christian opponents.

They started using that term last year to demonize people for voting pro-life, etc. as though you are part of some sinister conspiracy for doing so and question your rationale.

Clearly at least two things. Christianity and Nationalism. Both of which we now know are just dog whistles for racism.

“Christian nationalism” .....

Of course this is just another ‘deceptive’ broad brush ‘title’ the Left attempts using to re-engineer the country ....there's no such thing as Christian nationalism.

You can either be a nationalist or a globalist. If you’re taking swipes at nationalism, than you can only be a globalist.

I’d much rather be hated by the Left than be in any way tolerable to them. The fruit (as described in Romans 1:28-32) that they too commonly display declares their allegiance and their condition.

“My kingdom is not of this earth”. But it will be. The sooner the better. And Christians who side with the Left will need to decide before them which side they’re really on.

Eric Rudolf is the template the left uses to smear patriotic Christians. To them, conservative Christians are all Eric Rudolf.

Well our government demands a constitutional republic, and that the states have that form of government as well.

anyone else wanting to install other types of governments should be regarded as enemies of the state

that means islamicists

that means socialists and communists

that means new world order/globalists/one worlders for world government

Nothing wrong with it.

Every other country can be officially have a state religion, except the US.

We are a Judeo-Christian nation. Not Muslim, not Hindu, not Buddhist, not Atheist.

If it is not a legislated effort, there is no such thing as so called "Christian Nationalism."   Back in my youth the Boy Scouts of America had a God and Country Award.   I am not familiar with how it has changed or become socially "woke", but being a God fearing American patriot used to be unquestioned.

I would question any Christian who has a problem with Christians participating in this nation’s betterment, leader or not.

Psalm 2: (NASB1995)

8 ‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the [a]nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.

9 ‘You shall [b]break them with a [c]rod of iron, You shall shatter them like [d]earthenware.’”

Micah 4:

3 And He will judge between many peoples And render decisions for mighty, [a]distant nations. Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they [b]train for war.

Zechariah 14:

16 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, there will be no rain on them.

18 If the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the plague with which the Lord smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

19 This will be the [a]punishment of Egypt, and the [b]punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

No he isn’t. He may let it rain on their farmlands like he let’s it rain on ours (shared blessings). But he does not support or condone evil acts that they champion.

There is no Christian nation. The closest thing we have is Israel or previously the USA.

Send us all to Madagascar or Greenland and see what happens.

They fear the idea of Christian’s ceasing to be accommodating and submissive, and instead getting together and advancing our own agendas.
