Cumulus Media and Westwood One have agreed to terms with conservative commentator Dan Bongino to host a daily three-hour show from 12-3pm eastern.
Bongino currently hosts a daily podcast for Westwood One that since March 2020 has been repurposed into a one-hour syndicated show on over 100 stations including 790 KABC Los Angeles and 560 KSFO San Francisco.
The new show would air live in the timeslot currently held by Limbaugh on many if not all Cumulus owned Conservative Talk and News Talk stations.
Bongino is a former NYPD officer and Secret Service agent turned conservative pundit and investor in digital properties including Parler and Rumble. He has previously served as a fill-in host at WMAL Washington and WBAL Baltimore and multiple syndicated talkers including Sean Hannity.
An official announcement should be forthcoming by early next week.
Sure, but if he was really better than Rush, his audience would grow to epic proportions worldwide quickly. He may be very good, but better than Rush? I’ve listened to a lot of talk radio over the years, and the only person I listen to because I miss him when I don’t, is Rush.
I miss Neal Boortz....
____________
“YOUR PHONE IS RINGING, YOUR PHONE IS RINGING, YOUR PHONE IS RINGING,........ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE!!!....BOORTZ”
I can’t listen to Bongino. He drags things out tooo long.
It is partly correct. Some Cumulus stations like KSFO in LA and WMAL in DC carry Rush. You are correct that we don’t know what is happening with Rush’s show
Barbara Streisand sold 68.5MM albums in America, the 12th-highest selling musical artist ever. By extension, you're saying she's the 12th best musical artist ever.
I didn't think so.
I suspect that Rush wins the same game in terms of listenership. He has millions of fans, many of whom cried when he died. His estate is probably mammoth. There's no denying any of that. I listened and he was good, even great at times.
But I believe The Who - even with two dead founding members and maybe 20MM albums sold in America - blows away Barbara Streisand.
I like Dan a lot but don’t think he has the sense of humor required.
I was hoping for Mark Steyn.
Plante is on several stations (I think around 70 these days) but his flagship is WMAL, which is a Cumulus station.
I believe Boortz is retired, except for filling in for Sean for a day or two here and there.
?????????? Howie has been phoning it in for years and secondly, how long do you think a national audience is going to put up with his stammering???...example...I think it, I, I think it will, um, I think it will be, um it will be a disaster.
Bo Snerdley’s “real” name is James Golden, and he co-hosted a talk show on WABC and then hosted an online show on Talkspot. He could do it. And he’d probably be able to hold onto Rush’s staff.
Steyn would be excellent as well.
Wilkow has a satellite radio program on Sirius XM and a TV show once a week on The Blaze.
What I said is true--that the headline is misleading. "Dan Bongino to Replace Rush Limbaugh" is not an accurate headline. "Dan... to Replace... ON CUMULUS STATIONS" is what is should be. When a headline is poorly written, like this one was (by Citizen Free Press), it leaves people believing something that's not true--that Bongino HAS REPLACED RUSH on Rush's show, which is not the case.
You make a good point. I believe my kid’s rock band is better than any Streisand album any day of the week, but they are largely undiscovered talent. They’ve had some modest success, and we keep hoping they get a bigger “big” break soon. We fully realize that’s not likely to happen, but I will still always enjoy their music way more than Streisand’s.
that’s not true—that Bongino HAS REPLACED RUSH on Rush’s show, which is not the case.
The headline didn’t say that either. Dan Bongino to replace Rush Limbaug is not Bongino HAS REPLACED RUSH on Rush’s show. It’ll be up to each radio station whether to carry EIB or Bongino.
LOL, that is an understatement. The man is a human blowtorch, not a comedian.
We need a blowtorch these days, too.
I can take about 30 minutes of Steyn, and he’s really good, but he exhausts me. Like he’s doing three hours of stand-up.
When I watched Fox, I sure did enjoy watching Dan destroy Geraldo, Chris Haan, and a few others. He was brutal.
That's a very good point...listeners have to be totally tuned in to keep up with Mark.
Sorry, don’t know him......tell him to get a job
I like Mark Stein and he is more of a nationalist pro worker grass roots kind of guy than Rush ever was.
