Christopher Miller, who served as acting secretary of defense under former President Donald Trump, blamed him for the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol in a new interview.
“Would anybody have marched on the Capitol, and tried to overrun the Capitol, without the president’s speech?” Miller said during an interview with Vice on Showtime, which will air in full on March 14. “I think it’s pretty much definitive that wouldn’t have happened.”
Shortly before Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, the president told the crowd of his “Save America Rally” that the 2020 election was “a criminal enterprise,” and encouraged them to “fight like hell.”
“If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,” he said hours before members of that same crowd burst through the doors of Congress in an attempt to stop lawmakers from certifying the results.
Miller noted that although he does not know if Trump knew his speech would invoke such a drastic response, there would not have been an attack without him.
“It seems cause-and-effect,” Miller said of Trump’s speech, later adding, “The question is, did he know he was enraging people to do that? I don’t know.”
Miller was named acting secretary of defense in November 2020, after Trump fired Mark Esper. Miller received backlash on Jan. 6 for his response to the Capitol attack, as many faulted his department for taking too long to deploy the National Guard.
“It comes back to understanding how the military works — this isn’t a video game, it’s not Black Ops Call of Duty,” Miller said, defending his part in the response, before revealing that he never spoke to Trump on Jan. 6.

Reagan faced similar headwinds when he came to DC, but he had the benefit of being governor of a huge state and building reasonably loyal political staff from that experience, staff he brought with him, much to the chagrin of establishment DC.
But, even excepting Trump's lack of political experience, he has some history of surrounding himself with rent-seeking morons; see: Omarosa and his LONGTIME personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. Trump was one of the richest men in Manhattan for decades yet he settled on a guy who graduated from literally one of the worst law schools in the country to be his personal lawyer? That's weird.
He is radioactive and his career is over unless he comes out against Trump.
Is he Stupid??? I’m sick of their false narratives. So tired of listing all the ways these haters are wrong.. They are the ones inciting violence against us.. Trump Supporters. They are the racists, xenophobes, bigots and Fascists!! We want FREEDOM, PEACE AND JUSTICE for Everyone!! They want centralized power and control over everything and everyone. They can Lie, Cheat and Steal all they want.. We will Not be silenced!! These people are flat out as EVIL as their civilian army ANTIFA and BLM!!!
Miller served in the military from 1983 to 2014. He started as an enlisted soldier, then was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1987, and then joined the United States Army Special Forces in 1993.
He received a Master of Arts in national security studies from the Naval War College in 2001. He also graduated from the College of Naval Command and Staff and the Army War College.
He participated in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. In Afghanistan, he was a company commander in the 5th Special Forces Group, which fought al-Qaeda and the Taliban. In Iraq, he commanded Special Forces units in 2006 and 2007. His promotion to colonel was approved in December 2009.
Miller served as program executive officer (PEO) for rotary wing programs at U.S. Special Operations Command in 2010. One of his last assignments as an Army officer was as Director for Special Operations and Irregular Warfare in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations/Low-Intensity Conflict & Interdependent Capabilities at the Pentagon in 2011.
The left had already bussed in these ANTIFA/BLM types.
It was happening with or without Trump.
Trump only said what most of the country was already thinking.
Well I suppose if Trump was a loser and walked away from the fraud that stole his reelection ,instead of spotlighting it things may have been different. whos to say? If the NG was deployed as Trump asked things may have been different as well.
Trump had no realistic choices. Mitch pretty much boxed him in with severe limits on who he would confirm and who he wouldn’t. This was enforced by his refusal to let the Senate go into recess for a single day for the entire four years to prevent his OWN PRESIDENT from making any recess appointments.
Next, the pussyhats and the restaurant terrorists and the universities made life an absolute hell for anyone who thought they might work for the Trump administration. So the “killers” he wanted to bring in vanished. Remember all those members of his business advisory council who quit within weeks? It was because of threats and boycotts.
Trump had almost no ability to appoint who he wanted to.
Realistically, he had about 40% of the normal power a President has and look at all he accomplished. The White House was utterly infested with spies like Vindman.
He was alone, under attack from all points of the compass.
Miller = disloyal
DITTO!
LIKE THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE IN TRUMP’S ADMINISTRATION, HE WAS A DEEP STATE PLANT, FROM PEOPLE WHO TRUMP NAIVELY TRUSTED. NOSTRADAMUS, COULD NOT HAVE ANTICIPATED SUCH CO-ORDINATED ALMOST UNIVERSAL BETRAYALS.
HE’LL NEVER MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN!
Never forget the military is still a bureaucracy and you can get a long way in any bureaucracy by just parroting the groupthink.
Much of the problems are due to the Senate threatening him and not allowing him to replace people.
I don’t disagree with any of that. But, even the people he surrounded himself with in the West Wing were just horrible. Horrible. These aren’t staffers who rely on Senate confirmation. Instead, Trump could have picked anyone. Look at his picks for Chief of Staff. They were dreadful up until Meadows and even Meadows was terrific.
I hate to say it, but Trump has a blind-spot when it comes to picking people to help him.
I do think knee-caping Flynn in the first weeks of the administration hurt Trump on two fronts. First, Flynn was really the only person with enough experience to understand the criminality Obama engaged in and may have been able to smother it in its crib. But worse yet, Trump’s failure to to stand tall for Flynn sent a message to other people who might have been thinking about joining the Administration: You do so at your own peril.
BTW and FWIW, Vindman didn’t work in the White House. I don’t even think he worked in the Old Executive Office Building. One thing many people don’t understand is how laughably large the National Security Council and its staff is. It’s freakin’ enormous, a bi-product of the War on Terror. Most presidents never meet most NSC staffers much less pick them. It’s a calcified bureaucracy like everyone else in DC.
Democrats flipped Christopher Miller a new mole party member now.
There’s no good, rational explanation for what that rally was all about in the first place? Drives me crazy. If Trump had to write down on paper prior to that rally exactly what he expected to result from it, what would he write? It’s crazy to think that Trump didn’t know exactly what Pence was going to do and also know that the entire population of the country could have showed up and Pence was not going to change his mind. So what was the point of that rally?
Are all people in government as stupid and illogical as this moron?
..............................................
No, but the one’s who aren’t keep a low profile so as not to risk losing their jobs, pensions, etc. This POS, like so many others, obviously is jumping on the HATE TRUMP train hoping it will be to his personal advantage. SO OBVIOUS, what motivates these disgusting vermin.
God willing. If it happens again, we’ll know it was him all along (or Jared)...
Maj. Gen. Walker, commander of the DC National Guard, testified that he was prohibited by the acting Secretary of Defense from moving his troops or even issuing them protective gear. Miller, I believe, was that acting Secretary of Defense.
One might think that Miller, looking at the possibility of getting blamed for the delay in National Guard response, is looking for a scapegoat.
“These aren’t staffers who rely on Senate confirmation. Instead, Trump could have picked anyone. Look at his picks for Chief of Staff. They were dreadful up until Meadows”
And THAT is the result of only family and low end people left because working there at any level meant you were a target. The decent people you would have wanted stayed FAR away, because of threats.
And as for Vindman at the NSC not being in the “White House” i mean in the larger sense. The NSC is in “the White House” as in listening to calls, going there for meetings, working with the results of other meetings.
and besides, he and his brother did indeed work at the White House.

Ummm. . .sort of. None of the evil destructive actions of the democrat/socialist lefties that have been terrorizing the nation would have happened if Trump were not in office. Instead we would have seen the type of destruction that the current administration is visiting upon us, and we would be even worse off than we are now.
