He won reelection in November, but it may be unrealistic to 79-year-old can stay in the Senate another six years.
So why did the old jackass run?
To: SeekAndFind
He will need to focus his limited energy keeping his wife out of Federal prison.
To: SeekAndFind
he and future governors would be required to choose the new lawmaker from a list of three from the executive committee of the party of the outgoing senatorI'm not sure I like this idea. Seems quite undemocratic. Why not just put the replacement to a vote in the legislature, like the way it was before the 17th Amendment? At least that way it would still be somewhat representative of the people, and the people will know whom to blame for the choice.

...McConnell has been uncharacteristically fearless in his handling of the post-election narrative surrounding President Trump...![](http://www.churchofsocrates.com/CrookMedal.jpg)

I think that he realizes that any part of this state south or east of Lexington/Louisville has basically become a no-go zone for him.

Kentucky, like Louisiana, is dominated by Republican politicians. Yet the state elects a Dem Governor. Sure.

So the worm has a role in picking his successor, who will then have the power of incumbency. How nice.
Typical establishment Republican.

I see the GOP controls the Senate 29/9 and the House 75/25. Far more than veto proof
