Mike Pence Breaks His Silence on Election

Too little too late… we don’t want to hear it…
Former Vice President Pence on Wednesday criticized the 2020 election in his his first extended written comments since leaving office in January.
Pence said there were “significant voting irregularities” and “numerous instances of officials setting aside state election law” in the 2020 presidential election.
The remarks were offered by Pence in an op-ed published by the Daily Signal, a publication run by the conservative Heritage Foundation. The context was an attack on H.R. 1, a voting rights bill the House is expected to pass on Wednesday, that Pence said would “increase opportunities for election fraud.”
" “Many of the most troubling voting irregularities took place in states that set aside laws enacted by state legislatures in favor of sweeping changes ordered by governors, secretaries of state, and courts.”“While legislators in many states have begun work on election reform to restore public confidence in state elections, unfortunately, congressional Democrats have chosen to sweep those valid concerns and reforms aside and to push forward a brazen attempt to nationalize elections in blatant disregard of the U.S. Constitution.”
You mean the same Constitution that does not permit the impeachment of an ex-President? The democrats ignore the Constitution with impunity because Republicans buy into false narratives and are afraid to take a stand.
“You are going to get Anarchy.”
We already have it. The federal govt and to some degree state govts intrude in areas where they have no business (eg marriage between one man and one woman) while not doing what they should do on the border. And then, individuals refuse to exercise their own personal and family authority, or are threatened against doing so. Total anarchy. 2a supports all the above.
This is 100% false.
And even in states where some members of the legislature asked for "more time," their request was indisputably idiotic ... because they had spent the entire month of December out of session when they could have done something to fix the problem.
Your tune will change when Kamala’s V.P. does as you wanted Pence to do.
Do you recall what the states did!..my gov refused and he is the reason we lost the senate.. Kemp.Ga
even the SC failed.. all the safe guards failed... they just wanted the new star OUT.. and control... look at what we have in the oval office today!
they.. the left and our gov.. and media.. chose socialism/communism . . over Pres Trump.
As I read through this thread I finally understand what Democratic Underground must have looked like in December 2016 and early 2017.
We would do well to get over this silly, delusional idea that the U.S. Supreme Court is some kind of Divine institution.
It does make a difference because Article II Sec I of the US Constitution says it must be the President of the Senate.
"You read the article as having no effect"
No, I read the article as the President of the Senate opens the certificates. Because that's literally what the words on the page say.
"The Requirement to have the Vice President implicitly grants power to his office. He is not a letter opener, he is a decider of validity."
If that were the case, Gore would have rejected Florida's votes in 2000 and declared himself the winner. President Gore? No thanks.
The VP doesn't count the votes. The VP doesn't decide which votes matter. The House and Senate tellers count and record the votes. You want the House and Senate tellers deciding who the President of the United States is?
That being said, I agree that at least in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, the fear of a smear campaign scared the weak-kneed Republicans.
Maybe since he is being accused of some homo action in the past...the jig is up.
Keep your mask on you filthy traitor. And then go to hell.
Thanks.
Yep......the good days of 2016, 2017 with Democrats on self imposed-suicide-watch. It was joy!
Hubert Humphrey didn't show up to open the certificates in 1969. You know what they didn't do? Wait for him to show up. You know what they did do? The president pro tempore of the Senate stood up and opened the certificates.
The rest of your post depends on the president pro tempore of the Senate not existing. But he does. And he would have opened the certificates. Game over.
Too late. You are finished.
I dont ask for intervention... just stop the dems from defying laws and making it up as they go.. to suit their cause.. and to control... there were no safeguards to stop the dems from doing whatever they chose.
their hate for a man who did not ask their permission.. outweighed everything else.. and the rest fell into step.
Don’t forget 2000! (I don’t even know if DU was around then)
In 2000, all the liberals were ready to throw out the US Constitution, throw out the Supreme Court, move to Canada, and all sorts of other nonsense.
How many moved to Canada? None. And the Supreme Court and the US Constitution are still here. Blah blah blah, bunch of talk.
President Trump is just fine without being in office and is able to move his agenda forward. Our job is to stand with him and help move the country in the right direction. This defeatist whining is insufferable.
I agree with you that the states SHOULD have fixed this. But they didn’t. They instead decided to go along with it. So we’re all stuck with the result for now.
Best thing for us to do is work with President Trump to advance his agenda. That might mean a new political party or ground-up reform in the Republican party. It will definitely mean campaigning for and supporting Trump-approved candidates for other offices. The state legislatures are CRITICAL to success.
We need to focus on what we can control. Not rehashing the past.
