Breitbart ^ | 3/01/2021 | HANNAH BLEAU

Posted on 03/03/2021 7:19:38 AM PST by Bon of Babble

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Monday criticized certain Democrats for failing to support progressive demands for a $15 minimum wage, contending they are living in a “dystopian capitalist nightmare” and adding that the minimum wage should actually be $24 an hour.

AOC and other Democrats are primarily interested in raising the minimum wage to trigger automatic increases in union contracts, and a resultant increase in union dues flowing into Democratic Party coffers.

That said, their default caricature is that there is a vast sea of overqualified people trapped in minimum wage jobs by evil employers - when the reality is there is a vast sea of marginal workers who will quickly find out if such a plan is implemented that the real minimum wage is zero.

R’s better get onboard to an MW increase. I’d say counter with $10 and settle at $11 or $12.

No, get ahead of the curve. Demand $50/hour. Now, that would be a living wage. For folks in jobs that are worth that much. Everything else would get automated. I saw a robot floor cleaner at the local WalMart a few months ago. The thing was taller than me.

I 2x4 upside the head would not improve anything at all with this idiot, in fact, I would wager it would just scramble any remaining brain cells the idiot did have to the point of being non-existent....

Wrong. IMO putting a floor on wages in not fascism. LOL. Welfare and a continuing govt. subsidized unskilled labor force is the real FASCISM

You mean the Cheap Indian and Mexican Labor Express?

Mexicans destroying Blue-collar and Manufacturing work
Indians destroying White-collar, office and technical work

All with the blessings of the Federal Government and big business

With tens of thousands of illegals now flooding the US, the wages will stay low because the illegals will work off the books in cash for far less than them minimum wage.
—————————
It’s NOT illegals that destroyed the American middle class. No, that was done through legal immigration. H1B, H2B, H4EAD, OPT and others.

Mostly from India.

Nobody wants a minimum wage except for Leftists. Why are you so emotionally invested in this poor and discredited concept?
————————-
Not a leftist, but being effectively barred and banned from my career industry of 30 years due to the now complete Indian dominance of said industry, I’m heavily invested in a minimum wage increase as my 30-years experience means absolutely nothing in the jobs that WILL hire me. Minimum-wage fast-food, retail or manual labor work. That’s the only bona-fire places that will hire me.

Impossible to learn a new trade, survive and support a family for about 10 years after starting such new trade.

I should just learn to code, right? Oh wait....

If you are a software developer and you can’t find work, blame your skill set, not offshoring. If you live in Singapore, and I think you do, you need to make sure you are the best at skill sets that are in demand. “Learn to code” what people want, not COBOL.

For 24 bucks an hour, I will hire nobody with less than 10 years of relevant experience. But if somebody in 10 years hasn’t progressed beyond what was previously a starter job for teenagers, would probably be a questionable hire, though to be fair, some people are happy that way but not many. Automation will be king

Just give everyone $1 million and call it a day. No one would ever have to work again. Of course, they won’t have a pot to whatever in because pots wouldn’t be manufactured and there’d be no Starbucks to fill pots but everyone would be rich.

Let’s get this straight.

I’m against the minimum wage the second all Foreign Labor from primarily India, Mexico, and Communist China is removed from the US, and the various work visa programs are relegated to the dustpan of history.

Not one second before.

As long as the Cheap Indian and Mexico Labor Express is allowed, Americans are increasingly forced to take minimum wage work in order to eek out a minimum existence.

That’s just wrong to continually prioritize cheap foreign labor over American labor.

Replace any Americans with Indian slimeballs today?

Apparently still knowing nothing about hiring practices in the Software Engineering or IT field.

Guess the estimated 5 million underemployed and unemployed qualified American IT/ software engineers and STEM workers are just plain stupid in your book?

Someone should ask her “why not $100/hour?” Her response would be priceless.
