PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon beer and wine makers say a new bill proposed in the Oregon Legislature would unfairly increase a tax on the price of a barrel.
Oregon currently has one of the lowest taxes on a barrel of beer in the country. Each barrel is 31 gallons and Oregon's tax is $2.60 per barrel.
House Bill 3296 would increase that tax by $70, from $2.60 to $72.60 a barrel.
"First of all, it's a ludicrous tax. To go from $2.60 cents to $72.60 is actually like just bonkersville," said Ecliptic Brewing founder and brewmaster John Harris.

Mist are good liberals. Put the screws to them.
My Revolutionary War era ancestors are spinning.
This is called a shakedown. Dems threaten more taxes. Victims contribute more to Dem campaigns. Dems back off.
“Sin” Taxes, perennially popular
One of my coworkers home brews.
If that passes, I will double his capacity and assist in the brewing (I haven’t the space).
Ef ‘em. And screw all the retailers, breweries & bar owners for rolling over without a fight.

What cracks me up is the commies will start talking about “Moral” imperatives of why people shouldn;t drink and the morons will all sit there with a confused look on their faces shaking their heads. Suck it up buttercups! Wait until you see what a gallon of gas costs in July! Trump’s fault, of course!
Look; the lockdown did not kill off these small middle class businesses as planned.
So Plan B is to tax them to death.
Plan C is to Regulate them into extinction.
Relax; this will not hurt the public at large. They can buy beer and wine produce world round for the same price they always paid.
Bonkersville describes Democrats well.
The United States was founded on the principal that the government needed specific license to do anything but the people did not.
Now We the People need licenses from some government to do anything while government does as it pleases.
This was not progress.
Goodby Columbus! So long Oregon craft Breweries. This might kill the wine industry in Oregon, I would guess. Ta ta.
‘When you have ten thousand regulations, you lose all respect for the law.’ Churchill
Up north in Washington State they just hit us with a 30 cent per gallon gas tax increase.
The dope industry is doing just fine, on the other hand.
